My father in the listening chair. It's not really nearfield, but it’s close at 1.6 m and the triangle is wide, 120 degrees or so. The only acoustical treatment is the ceiling above the listening triangle. That enormous rococco chair behind the right speaker is normally not placed there.

Did some phase measurements:

Could this be flattened by using the FIR filters on the Flex Eight input? Worth a try:

A lot flatter. Should add that FIR with 2028 taps and FS 96 kHz doesn’t work well below 100 Hz, Changing phase also changes frequency response. No go.Before and after system impulse response measured in the listening position.
How it sounds? It’s easier to understand spatial cues. The soundstage seems clearer. Someone has given the listening window a cleanup.

On a side note my turntable turned (ha!) fifty on 17th April. Here’s a celebratory picture:

October 2022:

Since November 2024:

A WiiM Ultra has replaced the Yamaha WXC-50 and Squeezebox Touch combo as the system user interface. A less cluttered block diagram.
Better ADC for the turntable, toslink from the CD drive instead of analog, 96 kHz throughput to the speaker system, headphones EQ.
A MiniDSP Flex Eight has replaced the PC and RME sound card.

Nice setup! What material did you use for the ceiling panels? Is it "DIY"? Thanks
