Lamm ML3 + LL1, at last!

Much more than this. I disagree Pac is more refined and smoother. For me tube rolling is only initially to set up GG and optimize it, then I really prefer only one tube once set up, max two in some systems.

i've heard the Pacifica twice at shows, but never head to head with a GG. just how it sounded to me.

i will differ to your more Lampi informed experience.

Spinal Tap Dacs go all the way up to 11.

You might find the AC Kassandra to your liking...give it a listen since you are potentially movable.from DCS land...

I am potentially moveable from any land in stereo high-end, I have no commitments on any equipment - except budgetary. :( . However, I am currently very happy with the Lamm LL1/ ML3/DCS Vivaldi /XLF - I think I found the magic sauce to assemble the system. And still without MQA! :)

The recipe for the sauce involves hickory smoked or ebony wood smoked by any chance? :p.

Never seen Lamm with LV. The only LV I have seen with no Kondo is with Angstrom Lars 300b.

Has LAMM ever shown with Cessaro? I've seen LAMM with Tune Horns and I hear the sound was quite good.

Never seen with American amps. Only with European and Japanese.

as i understand the differences and to my ears; simply; the Pacifica is more refined and smoother with limited tube choices, the GG is more unfettered (exciting) and you can roll more tubes.

more they are different, and get ranked based on priorities.....especially proclivity to roll tubes.
Why should the Pacific be limited in tube choices compared to the GG?
What brings you to this (IMHO false) conclusion?

However I have heard from users of Pacifica it too is a 10 however I have never heard it and so have no opinion about it other than to say it could well be a 10
You should definitely listen to the Pacific DAC. It is really special

I prefer the GG, I don't like the Pac. It is a very different dac. And yes, I am not the only one in this camp, and there are also those who prefer the Pac much more to their GG, so if someone auditions, they should remember these are two very different dacs and try both, not deduce what one is like based on the other. For example, big 7 and GG were very similar, the latter better all round in similar ways but the GG and Pac are quite different
That’s what happens when you jump the R2R ship and go back to DS land for the Dac module...a very different sound.

To increase confusion in 2019 :) I inserted the conrad johnson GAT2 + ART monoblocks in the system after a long leave. Great sound. Nuance, nuance, more nuance, sorry I can not say better how flutes and are played and the music flows. "Black silences" again, as I often called it ...

I would very much like to compare the Alieno with the Lamm ML3 on audioquattr’s Cessaro Zetas!

I am currently very happy with the Lamm LL1/ ML3 . . . :)

I am very happy for you, Francisco! On the right speaker I think that Lamm combination is as good as it gets!

Listening to the XLF's with the ML3 + LL1 supplemented by one Wilson Audio Watchdog subwoofer plus controller driven by the M1.2.

The JL Audio JL113 mk2 pair of woofers seems to go deeper, but the Wilson subs seem to add more air to the soundstage.

Now I want another Wilson Audio Watchdog and controller!

Direct comparisons of subwoofers are extremely difficult to come by. Please continue to tell us your impressions between the Watchdog and the JL113s!

I thought the Watch Controller can control two subwoofers?

Dear Micro,

How far apart your Lamm amps and preamp. Are they pretty quiet without unwanted noises.

Kind regards,
Tang

Micro

remember I got rid of my pair of Jl Audio F113's as they just weren't needed in my room'

when I did I used Line 1 OUT of the LL1 for main signal to my ML 3's and Line 2 OUT of the LL1 for the line to my subs. That way I could do an instant A/B test by merely turning off Line 2 out. It just sounded better without the Fathom subs. But as they say YMMV
