Lampizator announcement: launch of our all new TOTL HORIZON DAC

In order to a/b the Pacific with the Horizon it has been suggested to remove the Studer and put the Pacific there. That was my initial thoughts as well however I don't have adequate length cables as my IC to my preamp and USB from the Extreme probably should be 2 meters rater than 1.5. I have asked Lukasz if he has adequate length cables to bring with him
Its going to be a PITA getting behind the rack to change the connections but not impossible. If any reading this are attending next weekend and have a 2 meter SE pair of IC's and a 2 meter USB cable please bring them with you

Steve, I and probably a few others ;) anxiously await any nugget of information to fall from your posts, but certainly do enjoy your process first. If you ever are inclined to try Horizon direct to amp, please share the results. I'm keen on this approach.
I've joined the masses in the queue with a deposit and have some time to adjust the system in advance.
Thanks.

I can say that going direct to amp is intriguing if digital were my only source it would be a no brainer however it would cause too many other issues that I’m not prepared to deal with

To those attending, we're happy to do this shoot out to give people an idea of the Horizon relative to our prior statement piece, but one minor issue hopefully one of you can help with.

My RCA interconnects are limited to 1.5M in length and my USBs on hand max out at 1.3M. Does anyone have some high quality 2M ICs/USBs they might bring along with them?

Just heard from Damon who doesn’t have anything over 1.5. In fact he told me that MasterBuilt feels 1.5 meter is the best length for a USB cable. So the request is still out there for anyone attending. Without a longer USB cable I’m not sure I can make this happen

I have a couple options for 2m (or more) XLRs, none of which are “high-end” but will certainly be fine.

Let me know if you need me to ship them to you.

What an uber cool bunch of people here..:)

Guys Yoda decided A380 is way too small so he rented this one for the next week…A0A6866D-C232-423F-9420-91AA0043F906.jpeg

All he need is a couple of rocket launchers.
Controlling volume by varying output level is no go in my opinion. Get a preamp or line stage if you don't need phon.
Thi k about it.

I understand the rocket launcher comment, but the rest doesn’t make sense, perhaps due to a lack of specificity. Please elaborate so I can disect further.

I had this very same issue come up in conversation the day before yesterday. We both wondered whether VC should only be used as minimally as possible (concerns about volume increases as a result of "some" corresponding increases in voltage and gain, but did not understand the architecture enough to interact much with the concern). I suppose we defaulted to using the pre' volume control as perhaps the best way to go - at least until we understand the DAC internals more. For me, I'd like to be able to get the best SQ/performance with the DAC direct to amp, balanced.

I have been running my Pacific direct to my amps for the last two months. I was so impressed with the sound, I sold my Pre-amp. This will be a topic I discuss next week when visiting THE EVENT. I do not use any other source as I am 100% digital.

You’re a lucky guy because what I’m hearing now through my preamp is superb. I believe the Horizon VC is superb. If I were all digital I would consider

I hate removing or changing cable as it always takes a few days or more for the cable to settle again. Having said that I am anxious as I bet everyone else is to know what this sounds like going direct DAC to amp so at the end of each day I’m going to run my long ICs that way.

im sure Lukasz and Fred will also find this informative as well as everyone following this thread
