LampizatOr Horizon - Tube Rolling Paradise

I’ve also tried the EL51. Very similar sound compared to the OS1. In my system the OS1 was the winner, but I could live easily with the EL51. I might had the wrong EL51, who knows.
The EL51 is also not my favorite.
Anyone in Europe interested in a matched pair with adapters?
Very few hours...

@adamaley - post 448 covers the VU71. It’s quite decent but I feel the pv200/600 and bo-188 are on a higher performance level whilst maintaining a similar presentation

I'd like to report back after trying the Tungsram PV200/600 with the adapter made specifically for it by xulimingers that this is indeed the best rectifier I have tried in the Pacific for my current system. It does everything right. Thanks @Sablon Audio and others involved in discovering this gem. The price to performance ratio puts this in a class of its own.

Has anyone tested an RGN2004 with an Amplitrex AT1000 and have the tube data specs for the tester?

I just got the mesh and non-mesh versions of the RGN. Mesh is in now humming along!

P.S> not literally humming. It sounds great so far :)

He is helping me with the tubes:) A big classical fan.

Seems like he is wondering why are you using my mat for your craziness

@plasmod3 Have you compared the solid plate Telefunken RGN2004 to the mesh version. What were your thoughts?

Wonderful ideas implemented on the adapter btw.

With this adaptor it is easy to tell the difference. Definately mesh but even within mesh there are a lot of variants

Mark has been most helpful in developing this area for me, amazing chap and love his cables too:);). The Italian made telefunkens are truly special:)

The ultimate adaptor for rgn2004!

Nos adaptor top and bottom sockets
Amtrans .9mm gold wire
Dueland silver graphite resister
9% silver solder
Damping compound

Optional

Pathaudio resister with an additional grounding point for ground wire attachment - addition $80 cost

Steampunk look lol!

Taking orders;) price is usd195 per adaptor ( shipping included by ustralia post) unfortunately not cheap but this with my rgn....sounded better than my we 274b engraved. We knew the rgn2004 has always been limited by the adaptor. Now no more:)

Mesh is the way to go but when you get to RGN 2504 or G2504, solid plates the way to go

I have been using the mesh and plate RGN for some weeks now. They are both incredible. The mesh has a tiny bit more bloom and midrange sparkle, while the plate is a tad brighter in treble. Both are excellent. I think my tube rolling days are done in terms of the Horizon (for a while at least). I am going to get one of the above adapters though :) I have just purchased my first-ever analogue front end, so lots to play with in the near future… I have tried tons of a tubes now. Here are my favorite configurations:

2nd place: 6384s w/ either ECC31 (adapted) or Sylvania metal base 6SN7 and a 5U4G recti (or Frankie)
Overall excellent. The ECC32 do NOT work with the 6384s, but 31s are great. This configuration is mellower than my 1st place, but good enough for endgame any day of the week. Relative to #1 it lacks dynamics, but the tone and stage, etc are all perfect.

1st place: OS1s w/ ECC32 (I have special military CV181 version) and either Tele RGN recti w/ nice adapter (I prefer mesh)
This is glory and hallelujah—perfect tone, balance, dynamics, lifelike stage and a touch of bloom. I can listen all day and all night with this. If you can find these, you will not regret it!

Hi matey:):)

Between us the ones in the know have moved past the basic rgns and os1. We are all running rgn2504s now which is the champion so far. Hard to get but I have 8 of them.pricy though not cheap.
