Funny, I have several but I am not sure I did. I still have my Pacific for several weeks so I will try it.

Does the trade-off between leaving it on and turning it off assume that one is listening to the DAC every day? What if you aren’t going to listen for 2-3 days?
As a math guy, I would suggest running the equation. Recti buns at 10x to 5x the rate of the pentodes and triodes in the Dac. So the relative tradeoff considering frequency of play can be thus assessed.

It's been 2 days now since the Takatsuki 274B went in and this tube for me is permanent in my system

I now have identical tube backup sets even though these are supposed to last forever. My thought with these old tubes is if you find one that you want to live with, buy a backup set because they might never again be found

Steve I’m not one to ask others to spend money nor can I guarantee the new we274b can better the tak. but owning both
the tak is a bit meaty
and the new or nos we274b non replica tubes
has more air and more staging. i say new we274b cause the new is very much like the new nos I own.
just my own observation

Arent all your tubes new production except for the 6900? KR recti and KT88 are new. Takatsuki is new prod too.

all of my tubes are NIB including one set of 6900's, both sets of KR KT88 and the Talk 274B

My KR. 5u4g is NIB

Both sets of Thompson CSF 5687 are NIB

I have NOS MELZ Russian Metal Base

I have NOS Genalex Red Lion Special Edition KT77

I have NIB EML 274B

I have Shuguang GZ 480 that I bought NIB

I dont mean NIB, I mean current production, ie still being made today. KRs are current, Tak is current, Genelex are current, EML 274b is current GZ480 is current though hard to get. The 6900 and Melz are vintage and not made anymore, as are the CSFs. These last 3 are the critical ones to have back up for.

I hear you but current production now means that is the time to buy the second set as in 10 years they will be more money and/or unobtainium

My back up for the Melz is 2 NOS sets of 6900. I also have the NIB set of 6900 that was my Reference until I heard the Thompson CSF 5687. It was a game changer. Both tubes are NIB so that wasn't a factor

for my ears the difference between the 6900 and theThompson CSF 5687 is like comparing the KR 5u4g to the Takatsuki 274B.....more meat around the bone with a fuller sound stage more micro dynamics vs something very airy and polite
