LampizatOr Horizon - Tube Rolling Paradise

Microceremic sphere damping. Took quite a bit to get them in there but the whole base is filled with it. Once dry will get the exterior coat on for the innards. Srs adaptor heaven

Got my sheath and 2504 tube.
Have fun. It will light up your ears. Greater dynamics than the RGN20004 mesh plate (which I kept as I also love that tube). For me the Valvo G2504 with the SRS 551 was a game changer in my system, The world of esoteric tubes has hit we Lampi users whilst we all wait for the next happenings in all things Taiko

Excited for it to open up and burn in. Alas, I am not on the Taiko train.…

Pound for pound, this must take the cake:

A little EZ81 beating up all the big boys price-wise.

The price is probably wishful thinking;). the really expensive tubes are subminiature tubes for neumann microphones, some types ac 701 have high four-digit prices for nos/nib.

It's the same seller and item. Description and reason for selling are identical.

It's truly amazing what the right dampening can do to the sound. Much more details and separation. It's another bump up in naturalness.might have a think to see how I can apply this to the rgn adaptors....

Well, someone just bought ALL of the Chelmer tubes on EBAY.
I guarantee you now they will be $350 each instead of $150
I was waiting to see what the outcome was on the adapters and someone snagged all the tubes before I could buy any.
Oh well. Happy with what I have.
Steve, Those Krons sound excellent!

Don't worry, soon another month, another tube will be the game changer.

Tis true, we are tube crazy. Touché. But the Horizon is worth dialing in and the good news is that those who sit on the sidelines and watch won’t spend as much money as those experimenting, yet will benefit from our experience. I think so far OS1/RS1003/6384, ECC32 or 31/quad of tele, and great recti RGN, Frankie or NOS 5U4G are all great options.. I could settle anywhere in that territory.

System synergy will mattter, of course!

For me the unknown and soon to be explored is the c3gs

AND an even bigger unknown are Ian’s rocket ship adapters. All of my adapters specially made came from the same source and to my ears are uncolored Ian is a gastroenterologist and will smile when I ask members “ have you ridden the rocket yet?”

And I’m not talking about the good ship lollipop :p

I completely agree that there are so many great tubes. For me now it is a matter of picking the correct flavor for my ears, my system and my room. Having said that at sine point you have to sit back and enjoy the music and these tubes in the Horizon are more fun IMO than having a bunch of tone arms and multiple cartridges.

That ECC32 Mullard brown base is tough to beat do the c3gs as a quad set of pentodes looks incredibly interesting. And then, as we have all said “everything matters” , so therefore we must ask can these super expensive resistors in the rocket ships trump the $ 0.25 cheapo in the Chinese adapters

Tvese Horizon threads as you say have a lot of info for those who want to dive down the rabbit hole aka tube rolling”

I have a few unanswered questions and I pretty much know my flavor.

The only other kudo is that when you find that special set that checks all of the boxes, keep your mouth shut until you find the same set as back up because if you don’t two things will happen
1. The price of the tube will triple overnight
2. You waited too long and the tube is gone

I felt guilty about it, but I bought two of the Valvos from Ian…

The rocket ship adapter is quite nice. I wouldn’t call it a flavor. It is marginal, like a cable. Grounding it is same, another incremental cleanliness. I would recommend the adapter, though. I have other good ones, but it is noticeably better. Also, I like the idea of supporting DIY of fellow WBF Horizon owners.
