LampizatOr Horizon - Tube Rolling Paradise

Very excited to hear what all the fuss is about the tubes in the attached.
And thank you Ian as always, the adaptor (two tone! gorgeous) and exquisite hook up wire are another level. Glad they made it through customs!

Once I get my preamp fixed
.. Ahem I tinkered with it again lol... And broke one channel lol:) :) but yes once fixed... Will post a comparison of some 2504s I have:) that should be something to quite look forward to:):) I haven't done the work yet so the result is also yet a mystery for me too:) :)

you are in for a treat. Only problem with Ian is that he quickly will deplete your life's savings with some of his tubes . Having said that, they are system changers.I continue to use the shorter version of Ian's adaptor for the G2504 and RGN2004. I can't exactly call it gorgeous but the sound compared to other adapters for these tubes comes nowhere close

I wanted to take a moment to chime in on the beautiful Takacs&Pinter adapters which I've been evaluating for myself for the last few days:

Aside from being physically beautiful, I've been surprised by how meaningful a sonic improvement they are over the Chinese adapters I had been using with my C3G tubes.

I understand the adapters will require a bit more burn in time, but right out of the box with the same tubes the presentation of music is fuller in body with more liquidity. Comparatively speaking with the Chinese adapters things could be a touch aggressive with the c3gs, but it is nicely relaxed with the TPs and the change made an already great presentation even more seductive.

They have my strong recommendation!

are you using the grounding wires with the adaptor

Not yet, but I'll be trying to ground in the near future. The adapters are great even with it though.

C3G is taking over the horizon world thats for sure haha!!! so good to see it working out for everyone but Fred try to get the telefunkens - the siemens are not as good esp the midrange - siemens doesnt measure up to the teletubbies. valvo is also good

Just really want to recognize @plasmod3 as perhaps the kindest most knowledgeable audiophile I have met. There are others of course from my experience only (emile, ed at Taiko, dick diamond, etc) but in the context of this thread, @plasmod3 has exhibited incredible patience and responsiveness to me as we have discussed/implemented the c3gs and valvo 2504. contemplating various permutations etc. via PM and then old school via phone. and his adapters and materials are really exquisite imho. anyway, enjoying the fruits of his labor, his special tube combo sound signature and thx to all on this thread…

I second all this! Ian is a great guy. Cannot wait to meet him one day and listen to some tunes. He has been very helpful to me as well

Ian has a great head on his shoulders inasmuch as he is a very busy gastroenterologist. and hepatologist whose real business seems to be his love for audio. We have been planning a trip to Australia and Melbourne will be one of our stops where I plan to hear Ian's highly modded system

As for tubes, you won't find any better quality tubes than those coming from Ian

Hotter than hell here today in SoCal as temps well over 100. However FedEx showed up on my doorstep with a beautifully wrapped box from Budapest. Opening it were two gorgeous wooden adapters from Laszlo for the c3g/s these were a work of art and came with 3 grounding cables with a neat little opening on the side in the middle for the grounding cable Not sure why but I was told these adapters need some break in but right out of the box they bettered the plastic version out of China. Immediate thoughts ( and I haven’t grounded them yet). were
smoother
not as loud
able to get the VC on my Horizon from 59 to 61 so I really liked that

kudos Laszlo and same to Tibor. They not only look good but there is an ease about the sound I heard as compared to the cheap plastic version

stay tuned. More to follow

Well today was a totally new experience for me but once again proves the point that “everything matters”. Yesterday using the TP adapters with the c3g/s tubes smoothed out the sound. It became less aggressive or in you face ( if that makes sense) It was very engaging and there was clearly a layer that had been removed. I found that I was able to nicely get the volume of my Horizon from 59-61 without any glare. Clearly this adapter removes distortion as there was no fatigue at higher levels. I was into it

Todsy however was tge icing on the cake. Laszlo was kind enough to include two grounding cables which took all of 2 minutes to install.i really did not anticipate anything major to gesr but today the sound stage was so low and virtually zero tube noise. The sound today was emotionally engaging. I was back at 62-63 on the Horizon VC so I was running full signal most of the time. There was zero distortion. But what really amazed me was the deep bass and how it held together One track in particular is Duende by Bkacklight Syndrome. In fact I was introduced to that song well over 20 years ago at THE Show in Las Vegas by member KeithR . The deep bass in this track between 16-40 seconds into the track is what I call the true test of the ability of one’s speakers to resolve this without getting tubby and breaking up. I have to say that in all the years I have played this track I have never heard such tight resolution of the bass guitar listening with the two adapters grounded to the grounding post on the rear of the Horizon.

Kudos to TP adapters. Laszlo and Tibor have once again convinced me. These are really beautiful. Bottom line is to use the grounding wire but listen first ungrounded and then grounded. I think everyone will be in for a treat

Here are a few photos from Laszlo showing how easy this is. It is easy to do. I was shocked at the sound 8d1aa986-4417-464b-91b0-227d72998c6d.jpegaa17b2db-d7f1-48ba-bfc3-d28d5c5e8d31.jpegaa17b2db-d7f1-48ba-bfc3-d28d5c5e8d31.jpeg

The other thing I failed to mention about this adapter is how tightly it locks in the tubes and the how tightly the adapter goes into the socket of the Horizon The fit is perfect
