Lampizator Horizon360 - Broadening Our Musical Horizons

It’s hard to swallow the Bud Light when you know a Belgian Trippel is up next.

I just rolled out a pair of Sofia drivers for a pair of 1953 Brimars in my amp. Kind of the same thing. The world is right again.
I suspect you know so very well Belgian Trippel!

well i will be very disappointed if i spend all that money and don't get WOW WOW WOW!
Knowing what you are coming from and where you want to go would provide some context to give you better feedback. Looking at your posts gives some clues.

FWIW, I have Tobian speakers and was using a Horizon as a pre, along with an EM/IA silver AVC. My amp is 300b SET. I’m going through a partial system rebuild so took my signature down.Feel free to PM.

Its no diffrence than any other audio gear , example you swap out a power cable or other cables to try and get the most out of it . Its still a great sounding DAC and if Fikus didn't think the stock tubes were decent he wouldn't use them . You don't have to upgrade tubes if you don't want to , it's just a option

For sure the triodes will make the bigger impact if your attempting to dial "things" back. The rectifier will contribute, 2004/2504 big difference in my system. H1, I never changed the 2504, lately I seldom use it...
What are you using now?

Johan, they are 1943 triodes that were used in Military/Radar...

To me these are all data points and system dependent. One man's passion can be another man's poison. Find what floats your boat and stick with it but in today's world I always say to be sure you have backups because once someone goes gaga about a tube in this thread, the next day the market supply will be gone and those remaining will be double the price

As it seems that in certain cases H360 reacts differently to certain tube combos I'll just post a link from my latest rectifier experience or finding, being named Stradi 5ug4 from Korea. Amazing tube - full stop!

Now I'm looking fw as I mentioned for their 274b version to come out (WIP).
Why 274b specifically? Well I spoke with Lukasz and asked him a very straight FW question. "In the DAC circuit around rectifier electrically is best suited or designed around which tube type hence providing a perfect working condition/parameters for the rectifier?" And the answer was very short and straightforward - 274b.
So lets see how this will pan out and in the mean time I'll try EML274b and ACME 274b which I have on hand (also WE274b engraved base but this one is way to precious to fiddle around with it)...

I'm currently using EML 274b. Interesting aspect to this is: With the H1 I had the Taka, it was good but never really jumped out at me. I sold it. Wish I didn't now. Kind of syrupy. Fast forward to the 360, much better bottom end and midrange. I was using a Telefunken AZ12 Mesh up to the 274b. Its only been in a couple of days but so far very promising! Thanks to @Golum for planting the seed! I'll compare my 1944 Tung Sol 5U4G Vt-244 in time to see how it does against the 274b...

The CV181 has been my favorite.
Goran turned me on to this tube in one of his posts when the H1 was the new kid on block and I never rolled again. It's (relatively) cheap and easy to get. I am happy with the sound.

CV181 pretty close to the 6SN7, very similar characteristics...

I have the TAK 274b in my H1. I tried RK and KR 5U4G as well as as the Sophia 274b. In my system the TAK is the best sounding of the bunch. I thought 5U4G tubes sounded syrupy in my system. Oh well, as they say.... YMMV

It's amazing how some of these tubes translate so differently from system to system...

This has to do with voltage drop DC, different types of rectifier have different values. This affects the anode voltage of the subsequent circuit. There can be differences of 50 volts DC, here is an example image.20241203_024032.png
