Lampizator Valve / Tube Rolling Review Thread

I am a bit confused about my heater setting options at my B7 and went through this forum without finding a clarification. Maybe you can support me with your expertise.
I have the old version with a switch and just 2 settings. One is 300b and one 101d/45.
But 45 is 2.5V and 101d is 4,5V?! Does this mean that I can use all tubes between 2,5v and 4,5v with the 101d/45 setting (KR242, Tesla AD1n,..)?
I would be really gratefull, if you could help me.

thank you in advance
Hi;

With the units without 5 position switch I really don't know by heart how it goes exactly. Maybe someone with similar unit could advise...

I have a B7 and I've been using the 45 switch only for 45's with the 101/45 switch. All other high voltages I've been using the 300b switch. I would assume you are correct that anything between 2.5 and 4.5 v would use the 101/45 switch, but best to check with Lukasz.

In my ex GG 1.9 I used the 242 on the low voltage setting and the PX25 on the high voltage setting

This would mean, that for AD1n (same values as PX25) the 300B settings should be used.
…and for AD1 (similar settings as PX4) the 45 settings. This would mean that current is more relevant than voltage.
Would you endorse these conclusions?

I had an older "two switch" B7, and I toasted some Psvane WE 1:1 101D's by using the higher setting - - just FYI. Lampi NA disabused me of using that setting, and I never lost another one after that. I would get Lampizators input directly for your questions, MOME.

Where can I get 4 and how much?
Believe it or not, I have 7 of them. I think I must have bought nearly the world's remaining stock, LOL.

For you, though, I guarantee you I haven't found anything that approaches the low levels of microphony they possess.

If you can find two and prove it, and you are prepared to pay a good price, I will sell you two that measure very well on my tester.

Be aware they are quite demanding though I found they worked in my Lampi before I had it modified on high heater without it blowing up! To be frank, though I know it wasn't running them properly, they still sounded great to me.

My other candidates for top valves are:

Visseaux TMBF1 as discussed recently.
Loewe AD1. Silky smooth, spacious, basically really nice.
Osram PX25. Outstanding with acoustic material but microphony is on the high side so use Herbie's etc. I would say if you think they don't sound a lot better than KR PX25 you have a duff pair.

This may be a great list of tubes but it isn't very practical since most of these are either not obtainable or very hard to find (at a decent price).

Right now my top list for my Pacific are (not in any order):

1 - RD27AS - equally unobtainable
2 - RCA/Cunningham 112A - cheap and easy obtainable
3 - WE 300B Reissues - $1500 and easily obtainable

Larry to clarify the recommendation was to try the 242, PX25 and the lampi 45. Of the latter two, either can sound better in a given system. The 242 usually sounds wrong but when it is right it will trounce the other two. It is very gain dependent so since you have changed the dac you should try it again

"RCA/Cunningham 112A - cheap and easy obtainable." Anyone know where to got some in the UK?

This is from a US seller from whom I have purchased before. Even though you will have to pay for shipping and maybe an import tax the total cost will still be less than most tubes.

At least stick those rare suckers in your Pacific for a test drive

If you don't like them, you can still sell them but after you already have them, you owe it to yourself to try them :D
