Lampizator Valve / Tube Rolling Review Thread

I bought a pair of RK anniversary tubes from 2ndLiner and I am looking for another pair .If yours are Rk KR anniversary I am interested
No, they are KR 242's.

Im not sure if get the matching pair even if they are used withe specs shown above or get two separate ( not matching ) but NOS

What is the general consensus when getting into something like this ?

Thanks

From the approximately 8 hours I have listened to my friend Jim Yager’s Baltic 3, I truly cannot understand how Lukasz delivers so much emotionally-engaging, analog-like sound for so (relatively) little money. And there is an even less expensive model below the Baltic 3 — the Amber 4.

I actually think we should honor Lukasz for making this kind of sound quality from digital available at such entry-level prices.
Hum. He quite clearly isn't the best and I feel for people who have been subtlety had by the assertion he is.

He failed to repair my obviously faulty DAC, pretending it did not hum.

Buy any old Lucasz DAC at whatever price point and put it in front of a decent engineer. It will come back way better, unless you didn't find a decent engineer.

You clearly stated what you think of the Lukasz engineering skills and about his products.

As you can read in this thread, and in some other as well, there are people who dare to disagree and sure, you’re not the only one who “knows decent engineer” and dislike hum. Hope you enjoy your system. We all have our own truth about what sounds better and, not necessarily need to hang on your evaluations.

It would be really nice if this thread would come back to tubes in Lampi dacs.

That said, since few days I enjoy not only the warm light from Christmas tree, but also from quad of RCA UX-201A. What a nice alternative to beloved RCA 45!
@Golum, thx :)

What setting do you use for the RCA UX-201A‘s? The 45 heater setting?

Just got a new SET for use with my Pacific. It uses the Western Electric 421a dual triode — one output tube for both channels at 3 watts. It uses one 6SL7 driver and one 6B5YG rectifier. About as simple a design as you can get. This build is by Oliver Sayes. Sound is refined, combines the lushness of the 300B with the transparency of the 45. 75B61CAD-3F75-47BA-A072-3969F25BE00C.jpeg

No, it is not the 45 setting.
I don't have heater switch with many adjustments, just a toggle to choose between two. During Engine11 upgrade I asked for a change from setting "300B" to "01" tube familly. At the moment my toggle works "45" vs "01" and I'm sure, those two are not the same.
I wish I could help more.
Cheers.

Hmm. In a previous post, Golum suggested the 300B setting for the 101As. I assume that works for the 201As as well?
As said in PM 112a/01A/201 have 5V heater same as 300b hence you need to use 300b setting.

Cheers,
G

Having had a chance to compare NOS 112a and 01a to the EML 45 Mesh Globes in my DAC I can safely say that neither of the old tubes come close to the modern 45.

Basically these old, cheap tubes don't offer a shortcut.

Has anyone tried these interesting tubes in their Lampi DAC? Wavelength once offered a SET called the Mercury around this tube I think it’s compatible with an RS 242 tube.

Predecesor tube of the EML 20a/b
As seen using 5V heater so might be possible to use it on 300b setting
Not heard anybody tried those but i know Trafomatic is using them in their TOTL preamp

KR 242 is a replica of Telefunken RS 242 - it was first made for Allnic top of the line phono which used the Telefunken 242 as driver. EML 20b and AVVT 20 are both similar. Taiko has both KR and the Telefunken. I haven't heard the Tele, would like to in the Lampi GG or Pac.

They are quite similar but still not sure I would drive Telefunken RS242 instead of KR242..
KR spec below, RS in pdf
