Its regular one...
I am thinking about moving to Pacific soon. Do you know if Yoda plans any surprises in the near future?

Honestly in terms of Pacific not that i’m aware of.
But to be on the safe side - you never know with him :)

Did I miss something?
Is there a Pacific MK2 out?
No I was just saying it would be cool if the Pac MK2 let you set the voltage manually so you know your triode is being run bang on heater filament voltage spec.

But use a nice display, not a multimeter.

I guess my approach is probably a bit much but having said that plenty of amplifiers allow user biasing, so why not?

This just arrived in mail. They test used but fully working. Does look like one of the bases was re glued on.

So for original AD1 (4V 1amp), what is the recommended heater setting on Pacific? PX4? Anyone know if px4 setting on pacific is 4V 1amp or something else?

Here is some tube porn

PX4 should be fine.

Bases reglued I see. This is a bit of a problem with some older triodes e.g. Loewe AD1, RD27AS etc.

High temperature silicon based adhesive can come in handy fixing them. Also the excess can be wiped away quite cleanly I have found.

BTW you may find nail varnish remover and a Stanley knife is effective at removing the glue excess if Super Glue was used.

Anyone know what the deal is with the above ValVo AD1 vs more seen Telefunken AD1 with smoked glass? Valvo rebranded AD1s. Any idea who made this one?

also, just realized my EML px4 work at 4V and 1.5A, instead of standard 1.0A for px4. Any recommendations which heater setting for pacific for the eml px4?

No not me. The Valvo looks a bit like my Loewe AD1, but it definitely isn't the same.

The spec for the EML says 4V 1.6A.

The simple answer is for a Pac I don't know what setting you should use.

On mine I'd set the switch to the 1.5A less than 5V setting and then use the multimeter to set 4V exactly (which should give 1.6A in theory). But that won't help you I am afraid.

Latest acquisition.

Visseaux TMbf 1.

Had to have it since it's bats. Only the French?:D

4V 0.55A.

Note horizontal plates, filament, grid etc.

French military telephony valve. So designed for audio frequencies.

Hi could someone please tell me when running a balanced Big 7 single ended do you need to use four 300b's etc or is it ok to use two?

I remember reading that you can use just two tubes but I cannot remember if the tubes need to be in the front or back socket.
@LampiNA could help answer that question.

For my balanced TRP, I just use two in the front. Leave the balanced empty. I found if you use four when not needed in my old Level 4 that a hum could develop.

What a COOL tube J.!!

Yeah looking forward to it arriving.

I think it might be good. Will let you know. Gambling microphony will be low as it's relatively tiny and compact and it was designed for audio. Same seller has some Visseaux 2A3 at an absurd price. He accepted a bit over £200 for my TMbf 1 which is well below his BIN price. He has more.

Couldn't use it before but with zee new control mech it should be fine.

Have two questions to driver tube rollers on Lampi:
1. What is the best driver tube from KR or EML for Lampi GG2?
2. Any of the NOS driver tubes (reasonably priced) are getting close?
I have Acme 274B and KR274B and wonder whether other driver tubes can bring improvements?

I gather you are asking about rectifiers?
I vote for RK version of KR5u4g. Don’t care for EML versions.
As soon as someone mentions a promising NOS option here the price sky rockets on eBay.

Yes, I meant rectifiers and not drivers obviously.
So KR 5U4GRK is the Holy Grail here? Need to give it a try. Thanks for the hint.

No, it is not the holy grail but you may like it more than other tubes. There is no holy grail since every driver tube matches differently with different rectifiers.
