Magico M7 2023

I can’t believe it. For such expensive speaker, they use such cheap plastic speaker binding posts.

Do you conclude that from a picture ?

Magico speakers are very well made it could well be anodized aluminium. and then the connector itself from. Copper / copperalloy .

Im sure TLI or rhapsody could /can answer your question

If you want to see how one should make binding post, have a look at Gryphon Apex. They are not off the shelf item and it allows one to apply appropriate torque to tighten speaker cable.

You wanna turn the discussion into a glitter glammer bling bling manufacturing contest again.
Its about audio reproduction , music , enjoyment ..... etc
I really hope WBF is getting of this manufacturing contest track as its a dead end music wise .

So, what were your impressions/distinctions between the XVX and M7?

Its Bonzo , Only pretend to play the WA and he will pass out.

Salt , Grain , Bonneville .....!

Vice president of Magico, Mr Peter Mackay, came to my room to setup my M7 yesterday. If possible, Magico will try to arrange Peter to visit every M7 user and help to fine tune their speakers.

It was a 4 to 5 hours job. Peter will first listen to the original system and identifies areas that need improvement. His attention is on the interaction between M7 and the room, not so much on the sound quality of individual component. It helps if your system has a CD player which I assure most of us do. He plays CD's that he brings with him, listen to all his familiar tracks which includes jazz, drum rolls, vocal and classical.

First, Peter measured the room, marked the center line and sweet spot for listening. He started playing only one channel, left or right, moved the speaker back and fore in small increments, a few cm at a time. Until he found the best position when he tonal balance was optimal. This was time consuming. Finally, he measured frequency response of the room with reference CD and computer software. The frequency response of my room was surprisingly flat. He said very often there were peaks and drops in most of the rooms he worked on.

IMG_4402.JPGWhen one channel was tuned, the other channel was mirrored with the first one. If the room was asymmetrical, the work has to be repeated for the other channel. The final step was to dial in the toe-in. Started with no toe-in, some degree of toe in was gradually added. Peter settled with each speaker pointing 17 inches away from the sweet spot.

The sound was significantly improved after the tuning. Bass was cleaner and more defined. Midrange was more focused. Soundstage was wider and deeper. I was very grateful for Magico and local dealer to arrange this tuneup. The job was done professionally and I really appreciate their work. Thank you so much.

That is a great service offered by Magico. And apparently his visit brought real sonic improvements. At this level of playback everything matters, in particular the right placing of the loudspeakers. Enjoy!
