After doing shows for 20+ years now, the first concern which usually takes up set up day, one day prior to opening, is to be thankful if everything turns on and works, post shipping/driving. Then getting things set up to sound at least to an acceptable level. This all happens in a few hours.I get your point, otoh as the Atrium rooms are nearly identical the manufacturers have nearly the same conditions to present their devices in the best possible way. Certainly the set-up and fine-tuning is as or even more important as the devices itself. So the visitors get the combined impression of the product and the tuned set-up.

Maybe everybody is pissed of that the wadax digital sounded so good in comparison. The WBF commentary seems focused on tubes versus solid state and speaker typology. Plus WADAX. It’s interesting that there was not a lot of commentary here about the vinyl. Kronos, OMA, SME, and Nagra all released super statement turntables, yet little chat or comments.

Great sound without the plops and clicks of Lp or the hiss of tape.
And just push a button ....next piece of music please
Kronos sounded very good in the Gobel room. OMA TT had promise but the first time I was there the active bass was set too low and the next time I was there the bass was set too high! The horn sounded like it had promise though...otherwise it was hard to tell what the TT brought to the party. Living Voice had a Monaco TT and something else that was...orange. Both had Kuzma arms (the orange TT had the new Sapphire arm tube arm). The sound of analog there was simply beautiful with such natural tone and harmonic texture...sublime. The phonostage was from this Arcadia brand that I had never heard of before (the amp and preamp were from the same brand). Aries Cerat had Rui Borges TT that died and I think they replaced it with a Bergman Sindre. The phonostage was the amazing Talos Signature and the cartridge was a Top Wing I think. Those were the analog highlights that I heard along with TW Acoustic TT in Cessaro. The WBF commentary seems focused on tubes versus solid state and speaker typology. Plus WADAX. I actually commented mostly on systems...it just so happened that the ones I like the best were powered by tubes or hybrids and not SS and had analog or tube DACs.The WBF commentary seems focused on tubes versus solid state and speaker typology. I thought the living voice also sounded very good on the vocals.Kronos sounded very good in the Gobel room. Yes, I think the arm itself is around 20k.Morricab, thanks for sharing your experience and a great report! I sadly did not make it due to Covid concerns and was primarily going to investigate advancements in analog. needless to say, your reporting was most helpful.
I believe the orange turntable in the Living Voice room was the Kuzma Stabi R with their Sapphire arm, which if the arm proves to be an SAT rival is awesome since the combination is around $40,000 and the SAT plus their DD table is what around a 200-250k?
