Munich HighEnd 2024

Lagonda they offered me 5 $ for every positive review.
I earned 15 $ on saturday and 10 on sunday

LOL, why didn't you ask for more money? The high end swims in it ;).

And another AC sleeper cell going active, with only a few WBF posts history, all about AC ! Sometimes it is just to obvious

It would be nice indeed to see a positive review from someone not associated with Aries Cerat (gear).

Again, I have no reason to have anything against the brand, but the fanboy nature of the whole Aries Cerat defense here, as well as of the attacks on dissenters of the sound at Munich (which probably says nothing about the real potential in a careful set-up *)), is getting really tiresome.

*) I'd really like to hear one!! (no, honestly)

How does that work out then Al ! when enthusiastic owners of other manufactures equipment that they own or admire , choose to comment upon their time at Munich ?
As far as I can see if anyone chose to make this thread ‘all about Aries Cerat ‘ then look to the handful of highly vociferous posters who vented their spleens , more than once , about that particular company No ?

You are making the assumption that the nay sayers are right…and AC has made many past good impressions…this is not their first outing in Munich or elsewhere. There are many Yah sayers as well in the reviews of the show. As I said, for whatever reason this year’s setup was particularly polarizing. Was it the size? The cost? The need to have heard it once better dialed in? Hard to say.

If that impression has arisen, it apparently deserves clarification.

My comments on the Aries Cerat system are based on knowledge of horn technology and the implications for setting up (particularly) such a large multi-way system within a tight time frame, in an 'unknown' space whose conditions must be explored on site.

This post is illustrative.

Especially in this case, it makes little sense to rely solely on visitors' impressions and/or biases.

There were plenty of positive reports on other brands by non-owners.

I am actually looking at the highly vociferous posters who vented their spleens in defense of the brand. An amusing sight to see.

Hey, it's probably just a sub-optimal set-up, like so many at shows. Says nothing about the brand. So, why be soooo defensive?

Chill out, folks!

Well … I would have to go with Newton's Third Law of Motion on this one ..

One thing about the Munich AC Contendo II system design that stood out to me is the use of bass-bin type cabinets for the lowest bass. I realize that these have additional, what look to be Fostex fullrange drivers on the back of the cabinets. For an all out effort, this type of bass cabinet design, and I feel the same way about the AvantGarde bass horns and space horns, are not my recipe for well controlled articulate bass lines. When I was designing my own ultimate horn speaker system, OKTAN6, I wanted clearly delineated bass notes and not bloated & I’ll-defined bass, so the use of bass-bin style cabinets for the lowest bass was not considered. I am curious and want to hear this system to see what has been achieved and next time that I’m back in Cyprus I may pay Stavros a visit.

[...] polarizing [...]
Peter, polarization has been a characteristic of all times
[please forgive my poor English]

Yet another polarizing topic?
Who wears the "appropriate" length ? (of skirt, I mean; you, pervs, were thinking about those long horns, weren't you?)

You could use 'bass-bin style' cabs (folded, scoop, w-bin etc.), though preferably not if the highest fidelity infra and sub bass is desired. The mid bass section of Kevin Scott's Vox series is based on the old Vitavox Oracle:

Obviously, a real infra bass horn (length: 7 m, with a mouth of 2.5 x 2.5 m) is highly impractical.

i 'liked' the AC room at Axpona 2022. it was small with the system on the long wall. balanced and well sorted out with the large'ish for the room Aurora horns well behaved.

OTOH AC at Axpona 2024 a few months ago was a 'meh' with the same speakers and a larger room i expected to like but could not quite get there with a couple of visits. it was some better the second visit.

What do you use for deep bass?

The $7K Dali RubiKore 8 Speakers was the real shocker at Munich HighEnd Show 2024 !

Agree, for mid bass use but for sub or infra sonic bass.

Open baffle subs with front radiators. Awesome low bass notes and tactile at the same time for texture.
When you want deep party h dipole with ae woofersunnamed.jpg
