Natural Sound

Andro, elites can't live without the unwashed plebs. I mean, where would their bloodsports be?

It is interesting that many in the “Natural Sound“ camp have chosen Lamm amplifiers
one of the main engineering goals, was to keep the distortion flat across the frequency spectrum and the intermodulation distortion low
that means the harmonic structure is constant across frequency , this is an interesting data point

Many amplifiers have similar goals and do not sound like Lamm. But you have a point - many "Natural Sound TM " people have Lamm gear in common. But many people who own and/or like like Lamm gear are not "Natural Sound TM " fundamentalists. :)

i guess i dont need to bother you with a Albert einstein quote then ;

“Any intelligent fool can make things bigger and more complex. It takes a touch of genius - and a lot of courage - to move in the opposite direction.”

? Albert Einstein

Ps i m certainly not implying i m a genius , but looking at the thread i thought it was fitting
You appreciate this quote is actually not Einstein, and actually refers to economics, and not language semantics or philosophy

so is completely out of context

the originator was EF Schumacher often misattributed to Einstein

so yes I agree your not a genius ;)

Yes that of course makes perfect sense

Like the " elite " throwing out a interconnect or a power cable once in a while to the " unwashed " plebs .

I find it ironic that someone who blogs on a site that’s is “what’s the best“ talks about plebs and elites and also has the moniker of ‘VIP‘….LOL

PLEASE PLEASE spare me your ironic humour it’s killing me !

ps you might like to look up the meaning of “ironic“ also ;) since you mucked up your clever quote oops, bit of research next time maybe ? Rather than google

as Einstein once said: “ don’t believe everything I said on the internet;)

I stands for irritating. won't get into what P stands for

Yes, this sentence was part of the signature of an old founding member. We played with it several times in WBF, as the original Schumacher quote included violence :

"Any intelligent fool can make things bigger, more complex, and more violent ..."

You can’t count yourself as a LAMM person if you own but don’t actually use the gear

I mean, Heffner wouldn't have been a sex pest if he didn't use and abuse his Playboy Bunnies.

Well, I use it - Lamm is currently playing in the SoundLabs but I do not consider myself a LAMM person.
Sort of a heretic then, so if we throw you in the river and you float you‘re a witch, and if you sink you‘re not

All one has to do is listen and then decide. There is no need for measurements for the listener. It is pretty simple, really. And there is no effort to win anything. What is there to win anyway? That makes no sense. People do what they wish.

"It is important . . to know how the real orchestra sounds. We choose a reference point based on live music and compare to this point," then, once so prepared, "the problem of sound-quality assessment is almost completely solved in the first 10-15 seconds of listening at the intuitive level."
-- Vladimir Lamm

To change back to the post of this thread, having been sidetracked by the VIP who wants to claim to be a plebeian

do we think negative feedback none, a modicum, or a lot is important , and what about feed forward correction as in Benchmark, and Chord

I had discussed with Herb Reichert, the idea that the recording process especially digital tends to somehow “bleach” the harmonics and a certain transfer function sees to restore the musical palette

it was noted one of Archimago’s polls, that all listeners preferred a modicum of harmonic distortion over none

... seems unnatural, but if it makes life easier for recording engineer, isn't that what it's really all about ... ?

If you look at what mastering engineers do, adding compression and distortion is commonplace and equalisation touch up often
