Kronos Vs CSPort vs SME turntables

I’m searching for a tube phono stage, any recommendations? something that in same league of CH Precision P1
Here I love my Aesthetix Io Eclipse. Long time the absolute sound reviewer, Don Saltzman, loves his as well.

The Io and the Allnic are two to consider very seriously.

Thanks, I will put them in the top of my list if I will choose to buy phono stage based on tube and not solid state like the CH P1.

i own and love the CS Port LFT1, and can fully appreciate your preference for the CS Port. it's a very special sounding turntable.

another very fine phono stage to consider is the EMIA Phono corrector with the MC Trio which will accept up to 3 phono inputs. owned mine now for 3 years and really enjoy it. it plays with the big boys.

this analog is a good fit for my Wadax. i can go back and forth and it's very complimentary to the musical flow.

The only difference between the LFT1 and the TAT1 is the pod for the linear tracking arm. The LFT1 is sold as a full package whereas the components of the TAT1 are sold separately.

Hi Mike,

Unfortunately, the CSPort LFT model not in my list only the TAT1 and TAT2 models, also the Kronos Sparta in my list.
of course. my point was simply that the performance of the CS Port tt's are a cut above many others. string drive. high mass platter. no servo. low pressure, low flow, air float. much in common between the CS Port models for how they sound. musically right and immersive to my ears. pulls you in. exciting, relaxed and engaging.

does not hurt that they are also works of art in a zen way. timeless. the materials and finish quality is outstanding.

You will also be surprised how good the Ear 834p phono stage that comes at 1 - 2k used additionally rolled with Telefunken and/or Mullard tubes sounds compared to many uber priced phonos.
I always liked EAR 834P. A couple of years ago, I merely forced a friend to buy a used one for $600. He couldn’t understand the potential, and one or two years later, he sold it with a profit.

Its internal SUTs are pretty mediocre, but as a MM phono, it’s great in my opinion.

Agreed, it’s better MM than MC

If you try the dual mono configuration of the EAR 834P, ie having two of them and use only one channel on each, you would be surprised of the improvements! As a relatively modest priced phono, especially if used, it is a very good option! Some of my friends have preferred the dual mono EAR834P to other much more expensive phonos :)

Hi,

I want to add turntable to my system, I checked few options and I have 4 competitors, please let me know which option is better from your experience.

1. Kronos Sparta
2. SME synergy Diamond Series (with nagra phono stage)
3. CSPort TAT1M2
4. CSPort TAT2M2

For the phono stage, the CH Precision P1 is my favorite (I have CH preamp and amplifier in my setup so it’s perfect match).
Hi, Holbo mk2 new, available for 6k eur, at least you'll know what you're getting. Put it on a good table and install a good cartridge (I'll tell you which one)

I read about new Thales Reference model that will be released soon, I’m waiting for more information about it.
with the Statment Tonarm it’s could be another good option.

Hi, I have the Kronos Pro and I compared to a lot of top notch TT’s like Dohmann, Techdas, Nagra and others. I love the Kronos sound. I am upgrading to perpetual this year. So I’d recommend Kronos, it has pros and cons. The best sound signature period. Cons limited to Kronos Tonearms, but with the Discovery Tonearm who needs another one? Also it is not the more silent top notch TT. The Dohmann is the winner in that category but the SS is not as good.
Regarding Phono, I’d recommend on the tube side the Phasemation 2000, Air Tight or the new Kronos which is best of those. On Solid State I’ll go with CH or JMF
Consider also DS Audio cartridges and Phonos. In my opinion they are far superior to anything else, I own them too.
As a side note, Nagra TT was wow too with Nagra Phono

I did not decide yet which turntable I will choose but also, I’m searching for a tube phono stage, any recommendations? something that in same league of CH Precision P1

Allnic (as already mentioned), Ypsilon and Phasemation are our top picks.
