Am having a slight brain freeze now...

It's ridiculous. Everyone knows that all properly made ice-creams taste the same.

BLASPHEMY!

All properly made ice cream tastes GOOD but not the same.

This thread and the OP are also being discussed on another forum. Someone provided a link to our thread. The discussion is pretty lively and has, for the most part, stayed on topic. Here are a couple of posts that make similar observations to some of the comments in this thread:

I just finished reading the whole thread on the other forum...it's a long one!
What struck me as so very interesting, is why only a few posters seem to have asked Peter Breuninger as to why he was so upset about the post by the guy who attended the show at Newport and stated his opinion ( which I think he made very clear was his opinion).
I also noted that the attack on the poor guy was by the manufacturer of the speaker that was mentioned in the guy's post. Seemed very strange to me that as soon as that was completed, Peter Breuninger decides to post his OP in his new thread! Also, it seems so odd to me that another Evolution Acoustics user and Dartzeel user decides to post in favor of Peter and therefore the manufacturer. Makes one wonder what is going on here.
I guess the show goer had no right to post his opinion on a public forum, unless he was going to post a favorable opinion of the room that he heard. I do see how he could be held to task for only visiting the room for a short period. I can understand that this would not give anyone a real perspective of the sound in the room. On the other hand, I re-read his post and he clearly states that he had heard the speakers before, on several occasions. I did not see anywhere in his post that the objection was to the sound of the room, or for that matter to the sound of the ancillary gear....just the speakers. Now, I would expect if the speakers have a signature sound, that would be easily and quickly identifiable.
A sound which I suppose the poor guy doesn't enjoy. Question is, does he have that prerogative??
According to Peter Breuninger, the manufacturer of the speaker and others...absolutely not!

And another one:

I think that's a very good point, (name deleted). The more I think about what I read over there, the more I agree with you.
The whole thread smells of something wrong. I cannot believe that a semi-public figure, like Peter Breuninger, would fail to see the damage that he has done to himself and to the manufacturer who he is supposedly defending. I guess when you are so tied up in your own importance and belief system, plus you have others with their own agendas who are supporting you,it becomes easy to believe you are: "the Bugatti of audiophiles"!!

C'mon I read the posts on Audio Asylum otherwise known as the cesspool of audio. And you are cherry picking the responses.

Here's the link so people can decide for themselves.

http://www.audioasylum.com/cgi/vt.mpl?f=general&m=699732

And we're not going to talk about the history of the person who started the thread on AA but it's not pretty. He's had more than a few posts including a personal attack on me that was both malicious, false and removed. One where he called me a little Napoleon.

Best part is this person has more posts on AA in six months than I have made on AA in 14 or so years.

Thanks for providing the link, Myles.

I was not aware of the personal history involved. I had not heard AA referred to as the "cesspool of audio", but I learned of their acronym for WBF reading that thread.

I selected the two posts because they reflect my views on this topic and I wanted to make the readers of this thread aware, if they were not already, that this topic is being discussed elsewhere. Of course, you are right. People are free to read all of the posts on that thread if they are so inclined.

get over it already

Someone quoted Gary Koh on that AA thread -

"Gary said it best ,

"My father told me that an expert is someone who knows more and more about less and less until he knows everything about nothing. - Gary Koh"

Valid question on AA w.r.t this thread, they want to know in that case who are the Tier 2 and Tier 3 reviewers?

Funny that they call this the wallet big forum

get over it already

You've said something similar several times already on this thread. It's getting old.

If people want to keep on discussing this issue, why not?

Or to paraphrase something MEP said to me recently, the people [person] over there are the smartest people [person] they ever met.
