After the flood and went for the rebuild, I kind of said what the heck and went overboard with lighting. Some old buddies from school did the lighting for a Casino complex so I gave them a call. I don't quite remember how many meters of LED RGB rope I have including the many number of meters needed to backlight the onyx bar but they are also joined by 8 NOS Martin Alien 05 color changers that I resurrected and fitted with LED bulbs. I also carefully re positioned the ballasts away from the room to keep noise low. This is what the now long discontinued Aliens look like.
Everything is DMX controlled (pro control language) with 5 control/power supply boxes with a Stick (Wall mount control) as master. Scenes (color and intensity) are programmed with a laptop and saved on the wall controller. You can do manual changes on color and intensity from the wall controller. You can also connect this to your network and control it with your phone or tablet but I haven't gotten around to doing that yet.
Because Stevie is such a bad influence I thought to have some fun and added 2 rear corner mounted RGB 1000 Lasers from Laserworld Switzerland.
So, I am in always on mode but what's on depends My favorite scenes are nautica (blue and green) for easy listening as the colors are very easy on the eyes. When entertaining the lights usually cycle slowly between 7 combinations.
What's almost always off are high power down lights like those found in car dealerships. They are there only for when clients want to inspect the finish of the loudspeakers.
Power for all these lights and controllers are in turn controlled with the Vantage home automation system.
