why not set amp the impedance does not fall below 6 ohms stable 60-100 watts should work at 89dB sensitivity. sac thailand made the glowmaster amps parallel set gm 70 tubes.thats thing kicks

similar exposures; different reactions to the same stimuli

disagree on similar exposures. Leif has heard more panels and horns than you

That looks like a very interesting amplifier! I have never, ever heard of it before!

How would you describe the sound of that amplifier? In what systems and with which speakers have you heard it?

The GM100 makes me nervous, but how does this amp compare to the sound of the NAT Magma New?

widespread misunderstanding
8watt on a high eff horn system may have way more headroom than your 750W VTL on the monkey coffins
Monkey coffins are of course Norwegian slang for DeVore speakers ? ;)

any modern box speaker really; high WAF...narrow baffel......you get the picture
most of the more expensive ones give me assosiations to Chineese CNC ....bling outrigger legs etc
unproportional part of the expences are spent on looks to get the appropriate street cred

As for the amp, I can say I heard it briefly at someone I was visiting. I don't want to judge it, I didn't notice anything negative. What I can say is that the company has a good reputation in the DIY scene. I use the company's transformers on amps, Mc step up, etc. They sound great for the price.
P.S the measurements are really good

They look great. But too risky to me to just order without anybody having better familiarity with them.

Try horns and fleas in the home theater space, make it audiophile, also suitable for two channel straight music listening as well as theater surround. Theater is where horns came from to begin with. I guess if the HT is hers, they would have to be WAF I suppose. Like somebody said, put the Denon TT down there with a modest phono stage.

Surrounds don't need to match, albeit what the home theater fanatics might claim, which you don't seem to be.

The energy/frequency spectrum of the ribbons might just be 25 or 30 percent of the total energy spectrum of the signal, the woofs do the heavy lifting. Intense midrange pulses do require transient energy, however.
Methinks you may overestimate the power needs of the ribbon. My speculator speculates that 50 watts single ended would do it. You should borrow somebody's basic, non fancy 300b amp and just try it for perspective. Might or might not shred at your preferred listening levels, but you would get the SET sound and a sense of power and sound quality relativity. 300b could get 94-95db or so at your preferred listening position from the ribbon alone, subject to experimentation.

Thank you, but I don't know why folks are answering a question I have not asked. I have auditioned many horn systems. If I wanted horns originally I would not have ordered the Pendragons. If I want horns now I would sell the Pendragons.

Methinks you may overestimate the power needs of the ribbon.

This is somewhat of a philosophical and somewhat of a policy matter. As a matter of philosophy and as matter of policy I like to have sufficient headroom for the system to scale on the very most complex music.

The VTLs are significantly why Al M found the system convincing on large-scale, complex, symphony orchestra music. 50 watts is not going to do the job there.

I think 100 watts SET/PSET will do beautifully on girl with guitar and simple jazz and simple classical. Whether 50 watts SET/PSET will do the trick I don't know. But I increasingly think it might. This is why I have now put Absolare SET (one of my favorite amps of all time) on the radar.

So, any discernable improvement in the modest DENON table with the new stand and HRS platform?

Don twisted my arm yesterday to perform this comparison. I told him I wasn't in the mood, but he would not take no for an answer.

So last night I compared Jeff Buckley's "Hallelujah" back and forth and back. I could not discern any difference on that one track.

With the turntable in a separate equipment room, I think it is much less susceptible to acoustic vibration than it would be if it were located in the listening room.
