There is a pair available in Switzerland and as far as I have kept my eyes open the 90 Watt version is extremely rare

I heard a pair driving the big TAD 2401s at Davids. Lovely sounding combination. I recall reading a review that claimed plenty of headroom, able to drive the Sound Lab A1.

The original ML1 was criticized as being "dark" sounding...apparently the ML1.1 was less so.
You're talking about Paul Bolin's reviews of both. He and I covered CES together. He's an excellent reviewer. His comment about darkness ("a faint scrim") was about the treble.

The ML2 was also recently described as dark sounding in terms of the deep recesses of the soundstage lacking illumination. A friend who also owns a pair and is going to the BSO with me tonight came by for a listen yesterday. I shared the dark comment with him as we played David Bowie narrating Peter and the Wolf, Schnittke’s Concerto for Cello and Piano, and Cantata Domino. He simply shook his head and chuckled.
Pairing with the right speakers and system context are important. Opinions vary and it is what makes the hobby fascinating.
How many more times does the OP need to post that he has zero interest in introducing Lamm amplification into his system … which is after all the raison d'être for this *Rons New System* thread ,
It appears to me that there is no shortage of OP Lamm threads scattered across the forum where discussing this manufacturers electronics would be entirely more appropriate, without needlessly distracting consideration away from the subject at hand .
I have 3 bad experiences getting the Lamm amps fixed. They are complicated designs, do not have authorized repair facilities, and they will not share to schematic (even with their discontinued designs). So you must ship heavy amps to Lamm directly. That is expensive. Once i did ship them the amps, their customer service was atrocious.Why did you get rid of them?

Maybe (hopefully) this has changed with their new facility in Florida. But it soured me on the brand.

Is this the model of amplifier that tended to be unreliable? Isn't this the one Jeff1225 had trouble with?
System Update:
Since the inception of the system in February I have been using balanced Belden 1192A, as recommended by David Karmeli, for the long interconnect runs to the VTLs.
When the JA100s arrived I got from Amazon.com Gotham single-ended cables. These sounded to me to be the same as the Belden, or maybe a tiny bit smoother.
Today I am installing single-ended Cardas Clear Reflection, which I custom ordered from Cardas with no rhodium connectors. (Marty said he would not set foot in my house if there is a rhodium connector in the place.)

I would stay far away, there was a reason Vlad discontinued the model. The hybrid amps are fantastic sounding and the SET amps are arguably the best ever made.
Nah, if Marty and Jeremy feel that strongly about rhodium, I'm fine to omit it from the diet.
Rhodium plating is not even used for a positive sonic purpose; it's used only to avoid corrosion. And there ain't no corrosion in the low humidity, mild temperature environment of Beverly Hills, especially my highly temperature regulated listening room (so that my tapes don't melt).
JackD told me just to get the Class A hybrid instead. the ML1.1 didn't have good bass for one thing, can't remember the rest. it was the red headed stepchild of the line.
Not a fan of the Lamm M1.1 hybrid...had a hardness to it that was unappealing after listening to it for awhile.
It was the least good sounding of 4 amps heard on Sigma MAAT. Kondo was by far the best, then Koda, then NAT Magma. Different room, but the Magma owner also previously had the Lamm hybrid and did not like them. He now has the Aries Ianus hybrid monos and prefers them slightly to the Magma. I haven’t heard the Ianus is person but his videos confirmed it was slightly better than the Magma
