Watch J.R. Boisclair of WAM Engineering install an Air Tight Opus 1 cartridge on a Reed 5T tonearm on a Brinkmann Balance turntable in my listening room. Thank you, J.R.! Fantastic job!
What settings?Do you need to check the settings periodically after? How often?
The cartridge settings: alignment, weight, whatever else Boisclair adjusted. What settings?
VTF?
Turntable speed?
It is good practice to check these parameters after the cartridge breaks in.The cartridge settings: alignment, weight, whatever else Boisclair adjusted.
I was happy with isoacustics until I tried stack audio eq’s. It opened things up. The isos seemed a little shut in. Try it. Money back. Can’t find a bad review. Why?
What sonic problem were you trying to solve with the IsoAcoustics?
How do these change the sound from how the IsoAcoustics made your components sound?
My DAC is in another room. I'd be pretty disappointed in my DAC if it were so sensitive that it is disturbed by acoustic vibrations from another room.
Thank you for the report. I am glad you are enjoying them.I was happy with isoacustics until I tried stack audio eq’s. It opened things up. The isos seemed a little shut in. Try it. Money back. Can’t find a bad review.
i use the Allnic Speednic. It doesn't have a nice display but is extremely sensitive to speeds being off (as a strobe based system when it's dead on the lines don't move). I have found that most belt drives are off in someway or another...Yesterday I received my Shaknspin turntable tachometer from Paulo Rebordão.
J.R. Boisclair, of WAM Engineering, showed me this the last time he visited me. I thought it was great, and I ordered one immediately. Contact Paulo Rebordão at info@sempersonus.com.
I am personally not interested in the wow and flutter measurements that get mapped to an iPhone. You place the device around the spindle, and locate a little standing reflector on the plinth at the edge of the platter. Apparently the reflector calibrates the device.
This device is more accurate and vastly more confidence inspiring than a smart phone app. I have used the KAB stroboscope since I got into the hobby. That works well, and probably is accurate. But this is much more confidence inspiring and much easier to use.
I recommend this device highly!

my CS Port has a built in strobe, and once at thermal equilibrium (takes about 90 minutes typically) the lines don't move. always interesting how it's different when i place the 6 pound record weight on or off. the reference is with the record weight on.....and i use it 100% of the time.i use the Allnic Speednic. i have ShakeNSpin measurements for the Esoteric T1 (without clock) and the OMA K3 neither of which i did. very similar. it was interesting how the clock improved the performance of the Esoteric. then later when i bought the TEAC transport and was switching the clock cable back and forth, i decided to buy another better clock cable so i would not have to switch the cable. and so i put that better one on the Esoteric and just doing that got another small up-tic in performance.
speed and things related to speed matter.
How is it different?

The speed displayed in the photo has almost no meaning. I happened to take that picture after I tapped 45, and as the turntable was spooling up to 45.00. It does not show proof of anything.Ron, does this recorded speed of 44.55 RPM change when you place a record on the platter and put down the stylus and then does it remain constant? Is the speed of your Brinkmann TT adjustable?

Yes, the speed of the Brinkmann Balance is adjustable. As an analog system it takes a bit of time to reach the new selected speed.
