Yes, Peter will make these stands 100% custom so you can have one shelf or two shelves or whatever you want. The stand looks very much like the commercial grade stands which support laboratory instrument platforms such as the products from Kinetic Systems or Newport.
I have a shelf which fits onto the open cross-beams. The Brinkmann RoNt III power supply will go there.
The table top is MDF, I believe. The top can be filled with sand, as can the legs.
At this point I am not filling the legs with sand, as I do not know if this stand will be in its current location permanently. If David sells my Nothing stands with the AS-2000 (which would make sense for a buyer because they are a beautiful matching combination which is why I ordered the package of turntable + stands that way in the first place) then I will fill this stand with sand, remove the Herbie slider feet presently protecting the carpet, and let the metal footers attached to the legs of the stand bore through my new carpet.
