Should I stay, or should I go?

My time to speak, as the originator of this thread
I am v touched by Amir's intervention on my behalf
I'm sure he's not the only one who's noticed an ongoing frostiness btwn me and Ked, but it's really not relevant to the thread, and I'd value it if things don't get derailed
I keep commending the guys who've contributed to what has been a goldmine of considered thoughts and responses
Like all the great qs in life, it's opened up more qs than answers, and I am simultaneously closer yet further from the truth, if there is a truth (this is high end audio after all)
So that's all I want to say at this point, let normal programming resume
This forum would be a lot duller w'out the potent mix of big personalities and big egos, and wildly differing opinions on just about everything
As my gf keeps saying, "boys w toys"

I'm very much on the fence, but for the first time in my upgrading history am considering putting digital ahead of vinyl
And then going a radical step further, actively avoiding all vinyl listening for 2-3 years, immersing myself in top end digital, and then returning to Lp listening at a later date
I am really really tempted to do this, am curious to see if total immersion to digital will finally convince me it's the path I really want to go down
Of course I had total analog immersion for my whole life up until 1990 when I bought my first cd

Here's what I think with that plan: If it comes natural, with all the ups and downs of life, like gently caressed by a soft breeze of a Valentine's Day morning, skating on the frozen river, the eagles above, and, if the courage is within you, it's a beautiful music experience. You live intensely towards one love direction, and meanwhile other love directions are waiting for their moment. And when that moment comes, it's like a revelation, a liberation, a clearer appreciation; you give it all to love, to what you grew up with all your life, intensely again, only to realize @ the end, what complements your lifestyle today is you in the moment. You can live with either both, one without giving up your 50s, 60s and 70s, and the possibilities of now are always in your overall emotions.

I did it my way, with my means; it was a great experience, a humble revelation, it put me closer in orbit around the heavens, and helped me discover my sources, my foundation, my solidity in terra firma with the humans of my choice.

It's not the gear, it's not the cables; it's the connection between the music and us. The music is life, the music is silence, the music is people.
This is high-end music and people after all.

Just another day in paradise

Has anyone ever stopped to think that every day there is new conflict between members and when the admin team looks over the facts there is always a common denominator and guess who it is.....Amir,who now is calling Ked a bully . Really

Actually, Ked does behave as a bully. Steve, I do not agree with all that Amir says, and how he says it, either, but your consistent siding with others against Amir without reason is becoming rather disturbing to me. It seems to have become an automatic reflex of yours. Please do not let past personal animosities affect your judgment.

As you just heard, Marc also thinks Amir has identified the situation between him and Ked correctly.

The frostiness between me and match that Marc mentioned also comes from offline. So, you wouldn't know who is the bully except by online language, which would be quite unfair unless you knew the background, which I am not interested in getting into

Somebody help me...

I've read about 4 pages of this rapidly evolving thread and I am still asking myself what the F is a SGM? Some new digital server thingie? (That requires a DAC?)

-ignorant bob

Self Gratuitous Masturbation I believe Bob, or might that be this thread:rolleyes:

Makes me pine for the days when I more actively promoted Entreq on my thread, and Purite Audio posted a FIFTEEN MINUTE YouTube video of Psychic Healing directed at me
You can guess how much of a sap he thought I was
Now, those WERE the days of serious trolling LOL!

Harlequin, isn't that a truism?
I mean SELF GRATUITOUS masturbation, it's all self self self as far I'm concerned
Jeesh, we're REALLY off topic now

Ha! (Timely too, as I am currently enjoying a class at university on Psychology of Human Sexuality)

If memory serves me right, you are a senior citizen and you said in another thread that your manual dexterity was not what it used to be and so handling vinyl was difficult. True?

If so, spend the money on digital and reserve vinyl for special occasions. QED.

Howz the ol saying go... " all good conversations ultimately degrade to sex or farts"

Wisnon, not quite
I said me and my installer both struggled a bit setting up the analog rig
W failing eyesight and arthritic fingers, it was a trial
Handling vinyl, no problemo
So, enough if the senior citizen comments please, just about to turn 53

I agree completely and Ked should know better. It would have ended very quickly with the OP or Amir reporting the post rather than serving as a moderator. Citations have been noted and hopefully it will be a good day

If there are issues then either Marc or Amir or someone should have reported the post rather than Amir playing moderator so I agree in part Al and heed your suggestions. This is a suggestion to all members Al as all too frequently tempers and personalities erupt as we saw here. Report the post is what we ask of people.

It makes our job easier for people to stay out and merely report the post

Back in the "real" world, I did think my thread would uncover sime guys here who had actively moved from analog to digital
Other than Bob/rvisinta on an allied thread who really has settled for a good streamer solution/Tidal over his analog sources, and my dancing on the margins, not many others have come out of the format closet
C'mon guys, it's good to share
Who else has been a loyal advocate for vinyl but has subsequently been wooed and swapped sides?
And what were the deciding factors?

I did. I started with vinyl in the 60s, then I bought my first CD player in the mid 80s, I kept spinning LPs, and somewhere near the start of the 90s, after moving from one home to another, I decided to only use CDs for my music listening. I did it for years like that, then I came back to vinyl and lived with only vinyl extensively for a year or two.
Then I came back to life's simplicity and evolution...with digital. I record in digital, listen in digital, ...music, movies, I adapted to the digital world just like I adapted to the analog world back in the 60s, 70s and mid 80s. I never gave up on analog, I can come back any day I feel like it. It's just that today digital gives me the chance to do other stuff I love too; it gives me time.

That's what I was saying in one previous post. I was serious. For what it's worth in the eyes of others, your eyes. ...Ears, years, of experience.

Looks like it was a convenience thing for you Northstar, familiarity w digital by working w it, and a refusal to hold analog in the reverence that the vinylphiles like me and many others do, persevering w lps in the days that vinyl was derided by early digital
adoptees in the 80s and early 90s and the media at large
It was during these dark ages that my intrinsic love of analog was cemented, any argument w an early digital adopter was never turned down
And look at me now
