Siltech Cables

I own the 880l and experienced exactly the same result as you. It bested 5 well known cables in my tests before buying. Amazing silence the 880 has, making almost all other cables seem noisy.
Maybe that's what it was -- silence in the background and the music just emerged cleanly and easily, from a place where there wasn't any extraneous sound. Is this what they call a lowered noise floor? I like it.

Yes this is exactly the meaning of lower noise floor. I had a chance to demo siltech double crown ls cables a month ago. Although I'll preface this by saying maybe my current amplifier (t+a pa3100hv integrated) could be bottleneck in allowing better sound to be obtained, the difference was very small. It was better yes, but maybe 10-15% better. Exactly the same sound signature, exactly the same siltech 'effect' of allowing all the music to flow with all details and density yet packed in a delivery that is never bright.

Thanks Rudolf,
There's not a lot of info online regarding Siltech, after reading this I'm going to get a second job and do a demo.

You are most welcome Dave. I suppose we all need something like an oil well in our back yards to finance this crazy expensive audio hobby.;)

Yes, thank you. I meant to write earlier the same -- as I step into the Siltech world it was very helpful to read this. As they discussed the benefits/differences at the very top end I could see somewhat similar differences in what I was hearing as I demo'd the 880L vs 680L, although obviously at a much different level.

Btw, the Siltech factory is in my backyard (so to speak: it is about a one hour drive from my home) but I never tried any of their cables, let alone their newest and most expensive master series. Undoubtedly they will be very good indeed, but this crazy pricing ….

Rudolf,
I'm surprised you haven't tried them being so close but then again I never looked at them before my dealer started to carry them. I keep reading how quiet they are and to use a term we both like, very un-mechanical. I can't do Master but may start with double crown PCs and go from there. I still need need 2 Akasa DC cables as well:eek:

Yep, it is somewhat strange that I never heard any of the Siltech cables in my system. They have been around for quite a while and I have been in this (crazy) hobby for decades. But somehow it never happened.

As regards the Wadax Akasa DC cables: they are much better sounding than the standard DC cables and bring the best out of the Wadax reference dac as well as the Wadax reference server. But also quite an investment I am afraid.

This is not a comment about the relative price of the speakers used in the High-Fidelity test, honest! But I do want to emphasize my surprise that the test speaker used was a $34k Dynaudio Confidence 50 speaker paired with ≈$250k of Siltech cables. In addition to my YG Acoustics Hailey 2.2 loudspeakers, I still own a lovely 10-yr old pair of Dynaudio Confidence C2 Platinum speakers and find them incredibly musical and very easy to listen to. I am certain that the Dynaudio 50’s (near the height of Dynaudio’s current product offerings) present music with scale and impact and are also beautifully musical. This was just an unexpected test combination and not a knock on Dynaudio, that’s all. Normally we'd see a pairing with the best from Magico or Rockport, or from something like Avantgarde, Clarisys or maybe Alsyvox. Nice for a change.
