Hi Joe,
I have just returned from visiting Spectral for the last several days. It's 2:00 AM and I'm "wiped out" I appreciate your interest in these unique components. When I joined WBF I found a tremendous amount if inaccurate information being posted (about Spectral). I would like to correct as much of this as possible. Spectral is a remarkable product with unique qualities and engineering concepts that we have not found in any other line we have worked with. As a result there are specific ways that it must be used in order to achieve the results it's capable of, and to insure years of reliable service. It is NOT tweakey. Quite the opposite. Unfortunately many owners simply don't follow the instructions in the manual. Sometime they have problems. If not used correctly you will never know what this superb product can do. I'm just too wiped out know to get into it fully now. But I wanted to get back to you. I'll be in touch in the next day or two. You can also reach me at 1 800 838 1812. I would really like to speak with you, and appreciate your interest.
Best regards,
Terry Menacker
Overture Audio
The US distributor of Weiss Engineering and Venture Audio, has told me the best amp he has ever heard, besides the $125K FM Acoutic, is the new Hegel H30.
Count me as another Spectrl fan here ... IMO Spectral and Burmester share some sonic characteristics .. They both disappear and leave the music alone. I do find the dynamics of Burmester more to my liking and their reproduction sweeter than Spectral's.. A point of view if you will .. Else I can happily leave with an all Spectral system.
I read the post about the un-tweakability of Spectral and to me it is an asset. You install them the way they were engineered to and leave them alone ... they simply play music.. No colorations.. just music ... In that sense Spectral is not for the flavor fo the month audiophile .. it is about reproducing music in the most faithful fashion: Whatever is on the medium
Hi Jim,
Hegel always gets great reviews. What are your plans?

Have to sell my Burmester 911 MK3 first, then reorganize my finances, as I am on disability after my operations.
Since we're on Burmester and Spectral, I'd like to throw the Vitus SS101 or SM101 into the mix. I haven't heard them myself but would I be wrong to say that Vitus and Burmester amps are sort of similar?
I've never heard Vitus, but I hear they are very special. The class A design runs hot, but some of the best sound friends have heard. At this level, all the gear is great and I guess personal preference comes into play.
Hi Jim,
That's one beautiful special edition 911mk3 amp you are selling. Good Luck. I know the past year or so has been tough for you. I hope everything works out.
My daughter is one semester away from a degree in music performance (piano) and she has had an in-depth musical education including advanced ear training, voice, violin, and conducting. She listened to the main alternative to the Spectral gear for about three minutes and said that the timbre was inaccurate. She pointed out that while a violin and a cello can both play the exact same A with regard to frequency, the violin should still sound like a violin and the cello like a cello even among the sea of musicians in a modern-era orchestra. When we switched to the Spectral gear, she noted that the timbre was much more accurate.
Brilliant. I've never read a better example/explanation of the difference between euphonic and clinical. But these are just choices. Choose what you enjoy. For some, there is nothing more musical, more euphonic than what others call clinical.

I didn't understand the comparo one iota as the other source was never revealed.
