Lutoslawski, orchestral works, concerto for orchestra, symphony no. 3, chain 3, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Edward Gardner, Chandos, 24/96. Fantastic orchestral recording with a large soundstage in which the individual instruments and sounds can easily be identified. Beautiful.
Hi 24 bit
I saw that the Batik download ,the old Man and the Sea has got excellent Dr value at the DR Data base. I had that impression, when listening to the album that they have not used any or extremely little compression.

Bach, suites nos. 1, 2 and 3, Hopkinson Smith, Naive, 24/96. Bach beautiful suites played beautifully on a theorbo with sound to match. This recording is very transparent so you you will hear Hopkinson Smith making quite some (breathing) noise but what the heck if someone plays as good as he does.
Mozart, piano concertos nos. 21 in C major, K. 467 and 24 in C minor, K. 491,Eugene Istomin on piano, Gerard Schwarz, Seattle Symphony Orchestra, Reference Recordings, 24/176.4. Very fine piano and string tone.
Stile Antico, From the imperial court, music for the House of Hapsburg, Harmonia Mundi, 24/96. I have all the former sacd's of Stile Antico because I love the music they sing and the way they are singing this music. Furthermore the sound quality of these sacd's vary from very good to outstanding. This recording is their latest which I recently bought in 24/96 format. Beautiful. Possibly this dsd recording sounds even better in dsd format but I do not know whether a dsd format is already available to the public.
Anne Bisson Tales From the Tree Tops via a 24/192 USB card I bought from her at the NY Audio Show. This is a much better record than her previous efforts both musically and sonically. Great bass and kick drum, piano tone, separation and a fantastic vocal. The low end digs deep. One of the best pop/jazz recordings I have heard. Not for everyone musically but the audio is off the charts. She is a bit of an audiophile too from talking to her. It is clear from this recording that she is very particular about sound. A native 24/192 digital recording.
Craig Taborn Trio, Craig Taborn, Thomas Morgan and Gerald Cleaver, Chants, Ecm, 24/96. Listen eg to the song Silver days or love: how realistic the cymbals sound, in particular at the beginning of this song.
Holland Baroque Society, Eric Vloeimans on trumpet, Old, new blue, Channel Classics, 24/192. Sensual sounding trumpet in a combination of baroque and jazz which - I am pretty sure - will appeal to a lot of listeners. In a certain way it reminds me of the 'crossover work' of Miles Davis of many, many moons ago. As usual with Channel Classics the music is gorgeously recorded. Go listen for yourself: I bet you will be impressed.

Listened to the 24/192 wav file yesterday for the first time and only briefly. First impressions are very positive: large soundstage and very transparant. Not sure about the string tone yet (in my Genesis/Kondo set up) but I will listen to this recording more carefully this weekend.

A reply to my own post is maybe somewhat odd but for all who might be interested: one track in dsd of this recording can be downloaded freely from the nativedsd.com website.
Jared of Channel Classics presented us lately some fantastic new recordings. Today I will list the following two albums I recently bought from him:
- Johannes Brahms, Mass motets, Peter Dijkstra, Swedish Radio Choir, Channel Classics, 24/192.
- Johannes Brahms, Symphony no. 2, Ivan Fischer, Budapest Festival Orchestra, Channel Classics, 24/192.
Both are splendidly recorded. Treat yourself with the upcoming Christmas days.
Downloaded this one today and it is sensational in all respects. Downloaded the DSD64 file in 2 channel which I am playing at 24/176.4 via Audirvana +.
