Swiss Digital Fuse Box Anyone?

It's nice to see that the availability of pig tail options has increased since this threads inception.

Tom
Think people are fishing them out Tom. I find that adapters are the route or go. May see if I can get LossLess to build a pigtail for me to experiment with. Top shelf kit.

No, the base one
That confuses things a little. The extreme (that I have) is supposed to be quite a bit better than the basic piggy. But I do believe adapters are the superior alternative. Thank you Luis.

Logically, adapters should be superior. Yet, I would be reluctant then to spend the money if I were you. All say that the extreme is a noticable improvement. I prefer the format of the adapter over the piggy tail, but reality is both are not ideal. If you do try the adapter, I will be very curious to know the difference in sound.

Well, if an adapter could match the sonics of the good cords on other end, we’d really be in business. At 50 hours in, the AS adapter is very good on the front end, although It’s way too early to compare with the Ext Piggy (which are being used with almost everything else). One thing, though, which I suspect won’t change, is that the adapter seems to have taken the warmth out of the system. Blame it on its rhodium connector? Experience tells me yes (same thing happened some years ago between outlet and regenerator with a cable having a Furutech rhodium end). TBD. Silver plating on the Piggys probably doesn't help either. In any case, thanks to LuisM and Tom for their exploration and intiative.

It’s only been about 10 hours, but I really like the sound with the $10 Amazon adapter. Will have to put the Piggy back in the next day or two to compare. But I think the adapter may be better, will probably have to try the AS adapters and look forward to reports from others who are trying them.
By the way, Mark told me the platting on the extreme piggy is silver.

Compare after so few hours?

Just an observation, not a final conclusions yet. Just surprising that the cheap adapter can sound so good.

Good. I ordered a pair to see what happens.

I ordered a pair of these, and looking at their fine print -- manufacturer, etc. -- they are exactly the same as the $9.99 ones I tried and found muddled at 150 hours awhile back (Amazon credited me the return of the earlier pair but didn't have me send them back).
That’s to bad.

Alex of WyWires writes that he can make 12" Platinum power cords for $300, but the shortest he can make of a Diamond is 3'. I'm currently using a 3' Platinum in front of my LPS SDFB and it's very good. Where the Diamond is slightly on the warm side, the Platinum is a little bit more.

The Amazon adapter sounds great, playing tunes all weekend. Haven’t bothered to put the extreme back in, or order the fancy AS adapter. Very happy with the improvement brought by the SDFB.

I’ve just put four of the Amazon adapters in the ATC and JL Audio sub runs. Greater clarity and presence than EPs right off, but also (early days) cool edginess. However, the catch with single adapters is that the SDFBs can’t fit side by side in the back of a typical conditioner or regenerator. The AS adapter pair is so far doing well at 200 hours between conditioner and regenerator.

I am using the Wisdom Cable Tech, Power Stage ES 10-SR (not a conditioner or regen) for my Amplifiers and Pre and have 4 SDFB plugged in with adapters. I only use power conditioning on my sources and do not like to restrict power to my amplifiers. The ES 10-SR has ample spacing as long as you stagger SDBF, PC, SDFB, PC. Maybe staggering would work. ??

My system starts with a Wyred conditioner that feeds a PS Audio Regenerator, the latter being the source for the entire audio system except a small LPS, which along with TV and cable box come out of the Wyred. My entire audio system except an Oppo, which is modified fuseless, is using SDFB. If you look on the back of the regenerator, which has outlet spacing similar to most conditioners, there’s no way to stick SDFBs with single adapters side by side. In addition, because I’ve found that continuous deep bass, such as from a church pipe organ, can kick off the regenerator with the four powered speakers in the standard outlets, I’ve had them in the four adjacent high current ones. That’s now impossible with the SDFBs. I’m hoping for now that having only the subs there will do.

That is why I said stagger them. I am sure your will figure something out. I have only Audio EQ in this room. No TV and the like. Also I do not have SDFB on my subs really se no point IMO.

My subs sound noticeably cleaner with SDFBs, and to me it doesn’t make much sonic sense in terms of continuity to use SDFBs on the main speakers and not the subs. Staggering depends the number of SDFBs, outlets and the specific use of the latter.
