Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

Is 50ft away, which is why I’m doing this to save traipsing 20m of ethernet cable along the hallway. I did a comparison against being hardwired with a long run of my own Sablon ethernet cable a couple of years ago and the wifi sounded better. Go figure.
Did you try to run Optical with SFPs of your preference ?
I agree 20 m is long in your case.
I covered mine 15 m distance with both Ethernet and optical
and fibre there was a must.

Thank you for sharing, comparing sections 0:22 through 0:28 on the first video and 0:23 to 0:29 on the second do show quite a difference in resolution, even through my laptop speakers, IMHO.

I don't think these videoes show TAS' supreme quality and Roon's aweful quality properly.

If I can reinstall Roon, I'll make perfect comparison videoes via

LH Da Vinci Sire DE and All Olympus cables and grounding boxes and Divin Noblesse.

I can show you much more huge quality difference about Roon and TAS.

[[[[[ Roon VS TAS ]]]]]

As you all feel, Roon and TAS have many differences about Sound Quality.

My customer who borrowed Divin Marquis made two movies can show differences of them.

But these are recording videoes.

Sound qualities are all bad.

TAS has perfect sound balance.

Roon has bass sound boost.

In case of bad quality movies, you may misunderstand by yourself.

1. SGM Extreme with Roon

2. SGM Extreme with TAS

Roon has very dirty bass sounds.

If you hear this system directly, you will not be patient for Roon's idiot dirty bass sounds.
Sounds like night and day on my computer. More clarity, incisiveness and resolution with the TAS version vs. an uncontrolled bass which adds blurriness on the Roon version.

Your Alsyvox speakers can make much bigger difference than Divin Marquis.

Divin Marquis can make all signals be only beautiful.

But Botticelli X is very honest speakers and never miss any minute signals.

If you make comparison videoes II, Extreme users will really realize Roon is the worst player.

I have installations for the next two days, but maybe later in the week I will do some Roon/TAS comparison videos with both the Botticelli X and also the Diesis Roma Triode. Both of these speakers show the DRASTIC differences between Roon and TAS in my room/systems.

The frequency response of the video looks different. No explanation as to why, posting for entertainment value, left video 1, right video 2:

I have a pretty good desktop system and the difference between video one and two was pretty drastic. And its not only the bass...

Same story Kris, I'm not going to disfigure my home with a long run of cable along the hallway.
I am about 100 feet from my network to my sound room. I use wifi to the sound room and ethernet from the satellite to the Extreme. Sounds terrific. I too was not going to run wire through my downstairs to the second floor sound room. WiFi sounds great

Sorry~

This videoes were not made by me.

My customers' system.

I want to make Verdi Requiem videoes via my Divin Noblesse system,

but my SGM Extreme has no Roon. DELETED

From tomorrow, Korea will be in lunar new year holiday.

So you have to wait for long time.

Steve, there’s a lovely expression about not letting perfect become the enemy of the good. That is rather where we both find ourselves.

Quite peversely, the telecoms line enters our apartment right where my system is located, albeit on a different floor, and is then wired up to the modem at the far end and then back by wifi. Covid got in the way of my plans last year to shortcut this circuitous routing and have everything rewired in a direct path.

Another option might however be to buy a second isp with a 4g modem specifically for the hifi. I don’t know if anyone else here might have tried that already? When Emile accessed my server this morning, he did comment on the network being slow whilst the kids were home schooling via Zoom.

Mark, Barry tells me his Virgin router cannot be upgraded to anything fancy, or any specialist add on router to just serve the audio. Maybe this is a UK issue, Bob seems to be able to run a dedicated router.

I don't know the lay of the land in the UK, but I have two ISPs into the house in upstate NY.

Cable/copper is home use, phones, computers, TV, and fiber is audio-only. Each "leg" has its own router, of course. The fiber ONT is powered by an LPS, as is everything else.

I started to go down the VLan route to manage traffic, and I thought why not just add the fiber. UberVLan.

I actually have a Cat6a, MM and SM fiber, and a cryo-ed/unshielded ethernet cable all run to the audio room (35'). Cable is cheap: time/labor is expensive.

You can add a router after a modem if you like Marc but this isn’t something I need or want to do as the BT modem already has a decent wifi router built in. It also appears to have the preferred broadcom processor too.

only 2 days burn in so far, don't have 4096 buffer capability yet, entry level venom power cord........but had to take a peek.

sitting 40 degrees to the right of the right speaker, i went through about a dozen of my standard test tracks

magic noticeable even off axis, one of my guideposts for when the system is gelling

big bass well placed and distinct from rest of soundstage
vocals stunningly real, solo and choruses
very low noise floor, allowing sounds to startle as they come out of, and return to, the silence
unravels complex/congested

a few suggestions from my test tracks:

Travellers Prayer - John Renbourn Group
Proud Mary - Ike & Tina Turner

I want to know about members of TAS team.

I only know Edward.

When official TAS is complete, please add TAS team staffs list~!

Hi Esotar,

I could hear the difference over my laptop's tiny speakers, but when I plugged in a Chord Mojo and a pair of decent but hardly top-end headphones -- Wow!

The TAS was very clear, articulate and much more reminiscent of what you would hear in a concert hall. The Roon version was like having a heavy, wet wool blanket thrown over your head.

Very stark comparison.

Thanks for sharing this.
