Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

Before I know SGM, I made music server.

For three years, I tried to make super music server by so many ideas, and failed.

Texture is very good, but resolution never overwhelm Aurender W20.

I had 30 ideas, but useful things are only 3.

1. Using 3M vibration sheet for Car HI FI to mainboard

2. Using CF card reader + clock upgrade

3. Grounding all inner PC by SR mini grounding box and cables

P1000463.JPG

I don't like SR grounding products.

But to ground all PC parts, I have no choice.

I spent total $ 35,000 to music server, but no achieve. Ha Ha

But SR mini grounding box helps to increase sound quality.

Though grounding Extreme is never meaningless.

I have Trinity, Golden Atlantic, Formula xHD (Not Analogue Circuit Upgrade), Terminator, and

Analog DAC.

I gave marks about upper DACs.

My result is like below :

Trinity DAC : 100%

Formula xHD : 80%

Terminator : 78%

Golden Atlantic : 63%

Analog : 60%

Though Formula xHD rating is higher than Terminator, I much prefer Terminator to Formula xHD.

Trinity is much better than Terminator, but if SGM Extreme is installed in my system,

two DACs' difference is reduced.

I'll make two movies about Trinity and Terminator with Extreme.

When I make the movies, I'll post them.

A couple of questions Esotar. What is it you prefer about Terminator to xHD?
Also does your Terminator have the new DSP board or any other mods like better caps etc?

Are you able to test them all against TotalDAC D1 or Twelve ?

Please don't ask me about Terminator.

Denafrips will be in trouble. Ha Ha.

I don't have TotalDAC.

But my customers almost use d1-Seven or d1-Twelve MK II by Emile's system and my recommend.

Later, I'll visit my customer house with Trinity DAC and make two movies.

But it takes time.

Thank you Esotar !
Yes if Trinity is 100% everyone would love to know where TotalDAC Twelve is .
If it is in 120% or 90% spectrum .
Please let us know.

I spoke with Yu at Brimar and unfortunately his entire production capacity for the Graphene fuse is already fully absorbed by demand from Chinese audiophiles.

How sad!

The xHD is MUCH improved with the new analog output upgrade. Big difference.

Bob, I believe it’s a similar story with the new DSP on the Terminator (similar to the xHD upgrade from original Formula).

The one thing that I have experienced is the dac differences become less in my systems once I started using the Extreme. It's almost hard for me to pinpoint the differences regarding which dac I connect to the Extreme. Each dac/system produces excellent sound and none of the systems with different dacs jump to another level just by changing the dacs.

I like Aqua products. Big Fan~!!

I believe this new upgrade is very awesome.

But newest Formula xHD price is $ 17,000 and Terminator price is $ 4,427.

Although two DACs difference is increased, Terminator is much more cost-effective.

Esotar, have you been using the normal production Terminator in your listening impressions above or a modified version?

Your words are leading question. Ha Ha

Of cause~!

I tested normal Terminator for one month and felt Terminator will be more fantastic.

Normal Terminator is very fantastic.

Actually I had plan to customize Holo Audio Spring DAC LV 3 KTE.

I think my choice not Holo, but Denafrips was very very wise.

I tested total about 70 DACs.

Among them, Terminator is the one of very excellent DACs.

Under $ 8,000 DACs' no. 1 : Denafrips Terminator

Under $ 20,000 DACs' no. 1 : Formula xHD

Under $ 30,000 DACs' no. 1 : d1-Seven + Reclocker

Under $ 50,000 DACs' no. 1 : Pacific & d1-Twelve MK II

World no. 1 & Perfect music server : SGM Extreme [[[No Enemies]]]

I think that.

Oh there’s no agenda here Esotar, I’m simply trying to correlate your findings. I did try PM you but your profile had blocked correspondence. Feel free to email me to discuss bilaterally should you wish rather than clog up this thread.

I think that.
I was going to buy a totaldac 12 mk1 then bought kassandra ref2( the transaction .failed on the totaldac).
Ive tried chord dave, qutest, hugo 1 and2,oppo sonica, and the denafrips on my system extensively.
I wanted a dac wich share the strenghs of both dave and terminator, kassandra ref2 is a cocktail of both with a hint of stereoide!
Just stunning!

Hi Emile,

Have you tested the new terminator with the Extreme or SGM? I noticed it is compatible with some mad sampling rates such as DSD 1024 - wondered whether you “went there” if only to see if it were possible.

Best.
