Totaldac new DACs

Also, if you look at the design of the footer itself the way it is designed, it's a compromise to just slap them underneath the dac IMO. It really needs a direct chassis connection for it to function as intended.

Hi Joeling,

I used to have: (a) Taiko Extreme -> Totaldac Twelve mk2 -> CH Precision L1+X1

I compared it to (b) Taiko Extreme -> Totaldac Twelve mk2 -> 2x Toltaldac Drivers XLR, and preferred (b), with better detail and no downside, so I sold the CH Precision L1+X1.

So I would say that the digital volume control of the Totaldac DAC is quite good.

After the upgrade to Totaldac Sublime DAC, I preferred (c) Taiko Extreme -> Totaldac Sublime DAC -> CH Precision M10. The Totaldac Sublime has a better output stage, that for me, sounded better than the Totaldac Drivers mk2.

After the upgrate of the drivers to 2x Totaldac Sublime Drivers, I then preferred (d) Taiko Extreme -> Totaldac Sublime DAC -> 2x Totaldac Sublime Drivers XLR -> CH Precision M10

I hope to do the live clock upgrades soon.
Thanks for sharing your experiences. Can I ask - how do you have you Taiko connected to your TD sublime DAC? USB? AES?

If you do not have copper plate option it is easy to unscrew original footers from outside with screwdriver. Otherwise just put new footers next to original. There is enough space. In my opinion footers should not be screwed to chassis, it sounds better that way. More freedom to sound. See, for example: Combak Harmonix footers. No screws at all, for a reason! You can also experiment with unsymmetrical placement of footers like in Innous streamers. Some people also put two footers in front, one in back.

they are made by Revopod, easy to get them in the US. Totaldac needs a dealer or distribution here in the US to tackle simple things like this. To have to send my dac overseas for feet is ridiculous, and Vincent is constantly upgrading and monetizing every little upgrade he can under the sun. It's a control and money thing IMO, if you ask me the US market isn't a major area of focus for him. Excellent dac otherwise.

Standard Revopod don't fit Totaldac DACs, you will not be able to screw them. Only custom feet can be screwed, they are custom made for the DAD enclosure.
Indeed people don't ship from USA to France just to install the feet. I just warm that you can't install the feet yourself under a DAC produced of upgraded before June 2023.
When a DAC is sent for another reason (a DAC upgrade for example) the DAC is prepared for the feet without extra cost.

Now: Taiko Olympus XDMI AES -> Totaldac Sublime DAC (AES input) -> 2x Totaldac Sublime Drivers XLR -> CH Precision M10. The Taiko Olympus XDMI AES is a major upgrade vs the Extreme, which I was quite happy with.

From the Olympus to the Sublime Reclocker I use a transparent reference XL aes. From the reclocker to the second reclocker and two dac modules I use three Echole Limited Edition mk2 AES cables. This is the best combination of digital cables so far.

The Harmonix footers gave me a bit of anxiety when first placed under my speakers, but the improvement was well worth it. I have never tried unsymmetrical placement under electronics before, now I gotta try that out. Thank you!

Dawid Grzyb from HIFI KNIGHTS just reviewed the Totaldac d1-biunity DAC:
"The Totaldac was enormously ripped, spatially large, immediate, slamming, punctual, fresh, dynamically charged, effortless, smooth, spot on contoured, articulated and still very easy to listen to."
