Tripoint troy signature grounding device

Gear daddy, that photo is the latest posted by Miguel in FB today

It is similar to Shunyata Triton and Typhoon. Both have cans of minerals and they do work.

Yeah, but Shunyata is like $7k, and the Tripoint is like, how much ... $70k ?

Let's not exaggerate . It's USD15k including a few silver grounding cables

For what can be done with $200 worth of copper and a copy of Ralph Morrison's book.

If u can do what tripoints did , I would love to buy a dozen from you at USD 2000 not USD200

OK, I stand corrected then. There is also a more expensive version, isn't there ?

It is often disappointing to pop the top on expensive audio pieces and see a few pcb boards and cobwebs. This is particularly true of digital gear....

Interestingly Ralph Morrison writes about using galvanized sheet steel in large computer rooms. Then it was to keep cost down. Now it's to keep theft down. So if you wanted to use coat hangers, they might almost work. But for our audio systems, copper pieces and parts are more available than galvanized steel.

Will it do what a Tripoint does?
I don't know. I have never read a good description of just what a Tripoint does. Lots of reports on how the audio sounds with Tripoints, but no explanations about what it's really doing. Nor have I seen good instructions on setting the system up.

skater, the reference to coat hangers was actually a joke. At one time, idiot engineers actually believed that gucci wire was no better than coat hangers in terms of electrical performance.

This forum is dedicated to "what's best" and not necessarily what is most pragmatic or affordable. What does your system consist of and why?

Totally agree. DOn't see the point of many of the latest posts. It is the same old history. People who have not tried a product giving opinions, just based in hypothesis and price. Which is not of much use if any. I heard the thing at my house and decided in less then 4 hours it was surely worth the price. So I went for it. What's inside it probably something that the manufacturer will not want to disclose 100%. And that is normal. You get a description of the problem and how it is addressed; and it makes sense. Which is saying a lot in this world of us... What is important for me as an user is the benefits of the product, and for the price the benefit was more then justified. When you get to a point in your system, to find something that is a net improvement (vs. a trade off) is very unusual and this is certainly one of these rare cases. For me it was a no brainer, and very important for those who have not tried it/heard it, I have not heard or read anywhere, anyone who has actually tried it who does not think the same.

Amen. I heard the demo at Axpona in 2011, and one of the guys present asked if anyone in the room was deaf...? LOL

I asked skater on another thread to describe his system and he never answered. I don't expect an answer this time either.

Its okay to ask questions and challenge the status quo. Its also fair to answer questions to provide a frame of reference.

Eli, 100% agree w/you. 20 mins is all it took to convince me to go down the grounding ie Entreq route.
A repeating criticism from one uber skeptical member here is to open the box and let's see what's inside, but never done. And others have made similar requests.
So, here we have the box opened up, to reveal...what? More black box tech. When are those 3 cylinders going to be opened up, if ever? And if they are, what else will be hidden within?
Me? I don't give two hoots. But this photo does nothing to ease the skeptical divide.

I think that noone questions the fact those devices are indeed working. It is more about questioning the markups.

But we live in a competitive market. If the effects are easy to duplicate, at a much reduced cost, soon we will see a flood of similar devices in lower price ranges. It is already happening, with Shunyata, SR having simiar products already in their portofolio.

This is a little ironic coming from you in light of your Trinity advocacy where is point is even more painfully obvious. Pop the top on most hifi electronics and it's always vaguely disappointing and begs the very questions you are asking now. As for markups, that is a question for Miguel. I do know (in talking to him) that the fabrications process is substantial (unlike most dacs for example with their pcb boards, etc). This a a custom, artisanal product that is not made in China. Miguel welcomes copycats because the results are not easy to duplicate. People who can afford the best (like the AE crowd) will still want the best. I want a Troy and will be getting one soon....;)

Gosh, we all justify our pricy obsessions. I hate the price of Troy SE, but my accumulative Entreq expenditure won't be far short. Entreq has the advantage of being modular in approach ie my rig is 3 grounding boxes, not 1, and has more connectivity, and the cost that I would never have been able to afford re Troy SE in one go, I will soon get to w/Entreq after 2 years of adding to, if Olympus Tellus comes aboard.
But yes, there are cheaper options, eg Vertex AQ have a solution a third of the price of Entreq, which itself is half the cost of Troy...

Miguel is a forerunner in a part of audio that has been poopoo'd as voodoo. For that, he is to be congratulated....

I am in medicine, and if you study the history of innovation in medicine, forerunners always faced ridicule and judgement. Semmelweis, for example, was lambasted for his studies of "puerperal fever" and hand sanitization in obstetrics.

The Thor is his grounding cable. This is the Troy.
