US Anti-Doping Agency charges Armstrong

It was doper versus dopers in the tour. Even slate if you ask me.

Actually if you read Tyler Hamilton's book, using EPO didn't even out the playing field. Some riders got more of a power boost than others depending upon their baseline hematocrit levels. And not everyone obtained the same effect from EPO, perfluorocarbons, steroids, etc. But again, EPO was really the only one without any significant performance compromises.

You have to read the book to get the big picture eg. Year 1: You're happy to be on a Pro Team; Year 2: You're trying to get in the best shape and obtain some "A" or "B" results as Hamilton describes them; Year 3: You realized that despite your best efforts, you're being trounced and have to make the decision whether or not to dope.

NO question about it. It was a level playing field.

They should just legalize it and save everybody the time, testing and lies.

The government, congress, the senate, etc., should just stay the hell out of it.

If dope made you win races , what happened to hamilton and all the other SOB's doping ....

If the test was so easy to beat why did Hamilton get caught? I looked at his u tube video. There was not much detail there. Many riders where caught during a race. Let's wait to hear what Lance says.

Stay away from the facts ......

Hamilton climbs the Doper and his team coat tails , get caught and then snitch on everyone after getting a grease deal from Tygert and the USADA, is this where we are now, fantastic place .....

IIRC, WADA sprung the isotope ratio test on them for the detection of exogenous applied testosterone. This test is much more sensitive since normally testosterone cream has about a 24 1/2 life and evades the epitestosterone/test test.

It was not a level playing field since not everyone responded the same to the use of EPO. You know that everyone is an individual and because of that responds differently to any given drug.

That's true, but some have more fast twitch and others have more slow twitch muscle fibers. Some will sprint better and some will go distances better. That's what makes the difference between athletes. Some are better at some things than others. Some have better coaches, so they do better. It's the sum of all the factors that makes the winner. You wouldn't say at the end of a race that cyclist X lost because his coach wasn't as good as cyclist Y and make a formal complaint because of that. . . .

It's a level playing field because everybody has the same opportunity to avail themselves of whatever they chose to use-and they do. Some people have better bicycles and coaches, some have better vitamins, some have better food, some have better steroids. They are available to all. They should be free to use whatever they desire to build their bodies. Yes, there are prices to pay for using certain materials and I have mentioned them in prior posts.

In general, the teams with more money usually win. ...Not always; exceptions are a reality of life.

In cycling I guess it's true too.

The athletes themselves? ...Of course, the most physically fit usually win. ...On a personal level, but not necessarily true on a team level though.

And competitive sport, means TEAM work, true SPIRIT. ...It always has been, and will always be.
It's the same with work, leasure, marriage, raising a family, living daily life.

______________

Lance crossed that line; he encouraged others, and used them to fabricate an unethical plan. ...Not a true spirit at all. ...And a very bad team of corrupted people.

Lance was the main bad leader, and still is. ...He didn't win anything, he lost everything.
The $100 millions he has left? ...That's just fake paper in my book, not the kind of money I'd be happy to spend anyway; unless you're into fake happiness (untrue).

Cycling is different from other sports. You can't win if the peloton is against you. Even the breakaway group can kill your chance of winning.
Cycling has more etiquette than any other sport. Wind is always the major competition.

-- Yes Greg, every sport is different, but cycling is also a sport.

...And it doesn't have more etiquette than tennis, golf, boxing, swimming, long jump, high jump, running, canoeing, skiing, luging, equestrian (horse riding), duelling (with "epees"), etc., etc., etc.

Did he say it wasn't a sport?

Whatever sport has opposing team members working together? If they don't like you they will not help you.

As far as I know there is no equivalent of the peloton in sports. You can get trapped in there or crash just by touching wheels.
