Videos - oomph, tympani, menace, power

This is the Qobuz version 24/96. First 3 minutes of the movement #4. I agree at some points it's has some unfortunate bite where the piccolos and violins go crazy together . In room, that's less an issue but still there. I've listened to other Qobuz recordings of the movement which have more bass but at a cost in some transparency elsewhere. Tim's recording has spectacular bass and I may prefer overall but there are several short sections also where the peaking violins and demonic piccolos sound harsh. It's a demanding stretch of very aggressive music.

Would be curious for you to post the Tidal version here.
I'm pretty sure it's the same version, I only have a headphone system at the moment, perhaps someone else can post their system playing it or even the SACD which may be the best option, given it's a DSD recording.

effortlessness and no strain are part of what I meant by confidence, but those are good words too. music superceding system is part of authority, so we are in agreement.

Tim, The qualities I hear from the WE video that Brad posted are similar to what I hear from the videos of your system and very few others. This kind of music is a bit of an acid test for system performance. It is not surprising that few people share videos of their systems here. I commend you and others for doing so and also for commenting on the aspects of a system presentation that can be captured on such videos.

Thank you, your point is a good one. At this juncture it is largely about the music for me, as I beleve it is for you. The classical genre is so rich; it is capable of sustaining interest across years. The period(s) and composers I am attracted to -- the apotheosis of orchestral music on a grand scale -- do indeed present challenges for sysrem performance, perhaps the strongest challenge that can be made of a stereo system. I admit my bias -- If a system acquits itself with this music it will do well with virtually any other genre. And from what I see it does not require a complex or exotic system (or even a high expense system) to fulfill the type of music this thread is about.

Dynamic range, frequency range, almost any time signature you can imagine, counterpoint, syncopation, pitch and timbre variation across a panoply of concurrent instruments yield weave and texture that can be intimate or grand in scale. Big orchestral has it all for acoustic music.

Why do you keep making insinuations, Peter?

A good number of people, including myself, have repeatedly explained their rational reasons why they don't think it makes sense to post system videos (no, we don't need to have that discussion again).

That has nothing to do with "not daring" to do so.

I’m not insinuating anything, Al. I am clearly stating that I am not surprised people don’t post videos of their systems playing this music because it’s extremely difficult to reproduce such music convincingly over an audio system. I commend those who do post videos of their systems playing this music. Kudos to them! This allows the readers of this thread to get a glimpse into these high performance systems. I would like to see more of these videos in this thread, especially of large contemporary systems owned by members.

As I said, you are wrong about the reasons, at least when it comes to a significant number of posters on WBF. And you know it.

Or you should know, had you paid any attention and were you to accept peoples' reasons as they had been discussed many times (this is not the thread to relitigate those reasons).

Give it a rest Al and rise above it. Maybe we could have one thread where those who are into the music topic and videos representing it can enjoy that withoust heckling from you and others about your disdain of system videos. Just accept that there are different views.
