What are you currently listening to (Classical)?

Yep, that's it. I love it! I recently bought a DSD download of Rachael Podger's version, which I thought was fine, but now it sounds positively pedestrian next to Carmignola's!
Yes, i have several Four Seasons...but have more rapidly warmed up to this one than any other from memory. Will spend more time with it to ensure its not just enjoying the clarity/soundstage with some good musical interpretation...vs actually finding the actual music making itself as exemplary as it first seems.

Symphony 29 to start...Mackerras, Mozart...and recorded by Linn Records...what's not to like?

Reissues without the multichannel tracks.
Yes, thank you...looked that way...in many respects these kinds of reconsolidated sets work for those who have not invested in any of the individual albums before. Plus, with 2 channel only, a nice consolidated set gives us all the music and none of the extras we dont use for a decent price.

Amazing playing and better than usual sonics from Hyperion (a bit closer perspective and less reverberant).

I find all Poulenc irresistable.

I wish I could find him more accessible...have to say Poulenc is one composer I struggle with - although I do like the Mass in G. This shows how much of a peasant I am ..

This morning a well known album and famous quartet. Some lovely playing. Streaming from Spotify, in all its 320kps glory.

Poulenc - I'm with you there. To my ears an incongruous mixture of the interesting and the irritating!

And that is a mighty fine album of Mozart's string quartets.

By the way, count me in the anti-Poulenc group, too! The only piece I've heard by him that I can tolerate is the Concerto for Organ, Strings, and Timpani in g minor.

OK. I used to like that but no longer car for it.
