What do you think of this video

What do you think of this video. And this is not directed to those who think every mobile phone video is trash, thanks. Please listen to the end for the brass and the woodwinds

Just playing with my iPad and recorded this. Then realised I had to create a YouTube account. Hope I’ve got my settings right.
Ked, you can tell me again the Duos are crap.

Sounds great to me. The only time I've heard horns sound good was a pair of Duo's!

(they were also red!)

And we have to keep the big man happy ;)

Nice and dynamic sound.

However, if you compare it to Ked's video in the 1st post, I think your woodwinds sound a bit 'shouty', which distracts from the flow of the music (for me at least). But there's much to like about the sound, especially playing jazz.

I was very sceptical of all these YouTube videos... before Ked played his back to me when he visited. They're clearly good enough to highlight vast differences between systems, and to identify where things are good and where they may be a bit off. For example, I can hear so much magic in Tang's and Gian's systems, but have a few reservations too. Oh and that includes in my own system too.

It's great to be able to compare, albeit far from perfectly. And it's so much nicer watching/listening to a video than simply talking about the sound. IMHO.

Hi Mani,

I quite agree with you and this could be the flaw in having ABS horns. The good news is I’ve lived with them for 16 yrs and become accustomed to their flaws, though always trying to improve them within my means.

It‘s also surprising how much you can glean from these YouTube videos so please keep posting them.

cheers

@Blue58 I might be in the market for a new server at some point. Can you link to anywhere where you've shared your thoughts on the Extreme? Thanks.

Mani.
I never did post my impressions as so much had been written already I couldn’t possibly add anything new.
All I can say is what has been said by others is all true.

I certainly didn't post the Bruckner because I thought it sounded particularly good. If was more for comparisons with other systems playing the exact same vinyl back.

Mani.

Mani hi,

Would you mind saying which recordings people are using to record with ?

Okay now no tubes before the pre amp .
Eternal arts tube tape stage gone , XLR - cinch converter cable straight from studer audio cards into the pre amp .
Sounds a bit less fluid but bass is a bit tighter .

Hugh masekela stimela full version .

Open reel records : vivaldi by enrico dindo

Luciano pavarotti Hemiolia

Hieukm - it sounds to me like the system is processing the signal with some severe dsp tweakery. I don’t know if there is some sort of upsampling messing around with it or similar.

Hi Bill,
The system just stream Qobuz through Aurender W20SE server to an MSB Reference DAC to Dag M400 mono.

I honestly thought it sounded more like a tango than the WB system
