What is new in my music library? (recent purchases I enjoy)

We were treated to a new production of Jephtha at Covent Garden last November, 270 years after the last one. A politically problematic opera these days, being about tribal wars in the Middle East. The Israelites were dressed as Lutherans, which was a bit confusing. No new Handel this winter, a new Semele next year.
The Israelites as Lutherans of all people?!!! LOOOOOOL Martin Luther must have been doing spins in his grave..... Few years back I ve attended modern day "Giulius Cesare" at the New York's Met which was REALLY weird stlystically, to say the least, even compared to some Bournemouth productions sets of later years..... But, I love Handel's operas in most forms , so the more the merrier....

It had a rather grim Richard Serra look to it. The previous year we had a new Alcina, which was a smash hit, fantastic show, no expense spared, Lisette Oropesa in the lead role. Obviously now short of money. We also sometimes get a smaller new one by the youngsters in the second theatre. Having an immensely popular musical director retire after 20 years doesn’t help either for recruiting good singers.

Covent Garden is short of money?!!! Wow.... I guess these elaborate production sets costs are through the roof.

"The band Vox Low from France is known for their dark and hypnotic blend of post-punk, krautrock and minimal techno. They combine influences from bands such as The Fall, Can and Peter Gabriel-era Genesis to create a unique sound that perfectly blends elements of 60s rockabilly with cold, minimalist techno."
