What's Spinning Tonight?

One of the best albums I have bought recently, The Killers' Sam's Town

Lousy fidelity but the music is excellent.

Hank Mobley, "Another Workout". Redbook. This album was recorded in 1961, but wasn't released until 1985. Any jazz guys know why?

Shellac Dude Incredible

For those so inclined, Dude Incredible is available on vinyl, which was mastered entirely in the analog domain, using the DMM process and manufactured at RTI in Camarillo, CA, using their HQ-180 system. It also comes with "two high gloss, full color monkeys on the front cover". I mean, that's value for you right there. *

And now this:

James Blake Overgrown

* Fun fact: When I was a younger, oh so much younger than today, Shellac played the last slot of my university's orienteering week. Because I happened to know the organiser, I begged and cajoled him to let me "help out" for the day, in a feeble and not very-well hidden attempt to meet or stumble into the vicinity of the mighty Shellac. Guess what? Not only did I get to help unload their massive heavily customised amp heads and Todd Trainer's beat-up Ludwig, I got to watch the entire show from side-of-stage. As a there-must-be-a-God bonus, Steve Albini - Steve Albini!! - asked me to find some Ibuprofen for him, as he had a nasty headache. I like to think that, in being able to procure and supply that vital targeted pain relief for him, I allowed future generations to also benefit from Shellac's stripped-down sonic mastery in person and on record. You're welcome, world.

KT Tunstall's Acoustic Extravaganza. Not nearly as good as the superb Eye to the Telescope where I got introduced to her:
