Sides 1 and 2 from 1955. Sides 3 and 4 from his comeback period in 1969. Remastered in 1974. Tal, known as The Octopus for his huge hands, could find chords that others only dreamed about. J.D. Simo has hands like Tal’s. Great fun to hear him 50 years past. Det er lenge siden .

They say that genius is sometimes written on a person’s face. This picture of John Coltrane on this mono vinyl album says it all: a man with a mission intent on creating jazz masterpieces. This album opens with Bakai, which means to cry in Arabic. Coltrane cries, laughs and sings with his sax in a way few have.

The title of this wonderful mono vinyl album states The President Plays. Ok, quick quiz question for the WBF folks with long memories. Which US President played the saxophone? While you’re thinking about this question, here the term President is honorific alluding to the magisterial way Lester Young played. When you listen to his saxophone, you’ll understand why. Accompanied by the wonderful Oscar Peterson Trio.

I guess I shouldn't have been surprised by the cost to get a painting framed. Costs are high for everything these days.
