Which Brand Have You Owned for 20 Years?

The only brand I'm currently using that I was 20+ years ago is Avantgarde. I started with their Uno (bought new in 2002), then Duo (circa 2006 bought used in 2019) and Duo XDs bought new 4 or 5 years ago and still use. Unlikely to change speaker brand any time soon.

In the past, probably the only "brand" I had for 20+ years was my home-built Wharfedale Airedale speakers (the big 6 sided ones with 15" bass drivers), although I changed the drivers from Wharfedale to KEF after about 15 years - a big improvement in sound quality.

My system has remained unchanged for 20 years, so everything.
:)
Tannoy, Accuphase, Technics SP10 MKII and Dynavector
Appart from DAC's and upgrading sub woofers.

The following manufacturer's products have been in my system for 20 years or more...
SGR Audio actively tri-amplified loudspeakers and MSB Technology digital components (Signature Platinum DAC III and CD III transport then Signature DAC IV and Data CD IV then Reference DAC + Digital Director + Network Renderer).

Excellent Question,
I am very predictable.
I have owned
Koetsu
Lamm
Avalon
Elrod cables
Walker turntable
for the last 20 years at least.
Still love love them all.

Regards Robrt

I still own a McIntosh MC2105 amplifier my wife and I bought new in 1972. It is not in my system, but it still makes music at my son's house in his basement party room. I didn't give it to him, just loaned it.
For that matter I also own a Columbia floor standing wind up folded horn phonograph my father bought in 1928 or '29. It still plays after I gave it a major overhaul.

Wireworld, McIntosh, Infinity - 27 yrs each.

Recently gave my MC7106 amp to my son in law and sold my Infinity reference RSIIa speakers.

Martin Logan. I bought a pair of Aerius speakers around 1994 or 1995 - and still have them, repaneled in 2020 - and upgraded my main system to their 15A model in 2022. I'm sure there are better electrostatic speakers on the market - full electrostatic rather than hybrid - but these really strike a wonderful balance for me.

I knew Lloyd personally and lived near him. Never could afford his table but his ideas were easy to own. A turntable for the ages.

I'm definitely not a box swapper either.
I do my research, listen to everything that is of interest to me... save up my shiny pennies, purchase and enjoy it to the fullest.
I've had the core of my main audio system for over 20 years and am still loving what it does with my music collection...

My Dunlavy SCIV Signature speakers (not to mention a couple of my instruments - can't get more lifelike sound than with those, lol) Photos on the wall are just a few of the many pic's I've done for various musicians while they were performing live.

My First Sound Presence Audio all tubed dual mono pre-amp shown on the bottom shelf center. My Artemis Labs Ph-1 all tubed phono stage along wit my vintage Hirata Tango SUT - the best sounding SUT I've ever had the pleasure of hearing, both sitting on the bottom shelf to the right.

My custom EL-84 amp and my Single Ended 845 Triode amp.

My trusty Linn LP12 in Brazilian Rosewood plinth with my Naim ARO tonearm...

My 1965 Wharfedale W60 with Alnico speaker drivers in Walnut from Great Britain...These stand mounted two way speakers with 12 1/2" woofers throw a very big, warm, full, but dynamic sound. Awesome with vocals, acoustic jazz and classical music. Been recapped with the most high end exotic parts to the exact specifications of the originals.

I've added some new pieces of gear over the last couple of years (Wavestream Kinetics all tubed phono stage; Jay's Audio CD Transport; Mojo Mystique X-24AM R2R Dac) and I would imagine that if I live another 20 years, that these new additions will also still be with me ;).

Best wishes to you all,
Don

I have owned and used Quad electronics and ESL speakers for nearly forty years. Of the items currently in use, the II/forty monoblocks are 13 years old (new caps and tubes) and the 2905 speakers 18 years old (all new panels two years ago). My X-Can V3 headphone amp is also 18 years old and going strong.
The oldest item still in use is currently surprising me. For fun I replaced the Quad QC-24 preamp with a Copland CTA-301 MkII I bought thirty years ago, but not used since the current Quad gear came along. I opened it up, cleaned the boards (all discrete components) and checked the caps for bulges or leaking, then used some DeOxit on the pots). Wow! It's nice, makes the QC-24's bass sound quite ataxic.
