Your "World's Best Audio System" . . . 2012 Edition

I would also hope/guess your music server choice is the Audeeva Conbrio. It is my guess because the designer Matan Arazi has a strong connection to Magico which have produced your choice of speakers. It is my hope since I would like to draw on your experience since I want exactly the same two products.

As you might know, I did an interview with Matan: http://ultraaudio.com/index.php?opt...i-on-music-servers&catid=31:general&Itemid=46

However, this is not a commercially available product. That is a stipulation for the TWBAS systems. There is no question the Audeeva Conbrio is an amazing product on every level, however.

Smokes! No kidding! That is some serious stuff!.....of course, one must ask 'how does it sound'? ;) Have you heard it?

Regarding Wilson Audio speaker that is first shown this year at CES, is that the XLF or a different one?
I must admit I did not think it was going to be the XLF.
Jeff, did you get the chance to listen to Wilson Audios very latest design at their building as part of the TWBAS 2012 selection process?
Cheers
Orb

Nice...i have been fortunate to hear some of the higher end Wadia pieces (the new higher models are quite nice...never cared much for the stuff of 7+ years ago). I have heard the Tidals Reference speakers with the (2) 6 foot tower subs...driven by 3 sets of (Tidal) reference monos, The Tidal reference pre, the Tripoint Spartan and Tripoint Troy, and a well treated room. Source was Stahl-Tek Vekian.

n this case, I think so. Has to do with the disadvantages of using two separate amps. The company will explain.

Prelim specs: 100Wpc class A for mids/highs, 500Wpc for bass section. More details to come . . .

I think it is the new Siltech V1/P1 interstage/power amplifier, and C1 preamplifier - all inside cabling in the 1 series is S8 mono-crystal silver.
Cables used in the TWBAS system I think is Siltech G7 Double Crown.

V/P1 is using a unique technology developed by Siltech - it's called SAGA - Split Analogue Gain Amplifier.

In the www.soundstageglobal.com under TWBAS tab there is a participant ad showcase menu where Magico, Audioquest, Esoteric, SRA, Torus Power, Vitus Audio and WideLab are present. It seems that all the components of TWBAS are there. :)

http://www.soundstageglobal.com/ind...ent&view=section&layout=blog&id=15&Itemid=251

So Vitus Audio are the company delivering preamplifier and power amplifier, and Vitus Audio has a USD $160K mono-pair or stereo amplifier with different output power for midrange/tweeter and bass?

No such amplifier is present on their webpage and only an integrated amplifier is shown on the Vitus Audio manufacturers showcase menu.

If this indeed is the manufacturers and the products chosen, I am very hesitantl to calling this anywhere close to "The Worlds Best Audio System". Not that "TWBAS" 2009 was any closer. Both systems have nice loudspeakers but I can't find anything else close to "worlds best" in the 2012 system. In the 2009 system Shunyata Research is a contender for best power cables and power conditioning. The Esoteric P-02/D-02 isn't even Esoteric's top model. The P-01/D-01 with the G-0Rb clock would have been a contender.

Well I cann't comment either.

I only saw these manufacturers under the menu list of TWBAS section. But on the other hand if your product are not in the TWBAS why you should specifically give your ad on that section?

Esoteric's P-02 and D-02 are the latest ones and replacing the P-03 and D-03 and seems that they can compete with their top range P-01 and mono D-01.

The Vitus amp is not the integrated. Just a guess, but in some cases ad work may not have been completed before the gang left for CES. The video will be up soon, according to Jeff, and all the details will be laid out. This system is just as extreme as the previous TWBAS.

If you read between the lines in the Vitus Masterpiece Series section, you'll see that the preamp has an optional active crossover. The Series also still lacks amplifiers. I guess the amps in TWBAS are the ones that will round out the line. I smell six figures for the amps easy going by its stablemates. I got to hear the class A Vitus integrated driving YG Kipods. I liked what I heard. I didn't like what I heard at CES '08 when Vitus partnered with Continuum and German Physik, that function room was in no way meant for audio.

Just spoke with Jeff and he told me that they have been uploading the TWBAS video since 1 AM. It was shot in HD and is 7 minutes long. He also confirmed that the list mentioned above did not have the correct equipment listed. The companies are correct.

It could be Vitus Audio which is the preamplifier and power amplifier particupant, but a crossover module for the preamplifier would not fit Jeff's earlier description. He described an unwillingness to use two amplifiers to drive a bi-amplifiable speaker. He gave a short description of a stereo amplifier (with four sets of speaker terminals)or mono amplifier (with two sets of speaker terminals) where half the sets where meant for bass with one output rating and the other half of the sets of speaker terminals meant for midrange and tweeter with a different power output. Also the Magico Q7 has an internal passive crossover, so an outboard active crossover would make no sense.

We'll know soon enough.

We'll know soon enough.

This reeks of politics and marketing. There are so many prodcts which in their own are better than this. Sorry but their website just lost all their credibility in my mind innless agrees to explain why every other contender was dismissed individually.
