Was fortunate enough to hear the new Q7 mark II at Magico headquarters this week. As a Q-5 owner, and having heard the Q-7 many times in the past, i was totally not expecting what i heard. It was so above and beyond what i've heard from any speaker that i was just floored. I didn't believe a tweeter and new midrange/crossover could make such a difference, but it was transformative. Unlike any Magico or anything else I've ever heard. #BlownAway

Thanks David. Nice photo. It looks like the room has changed a bit. I don't recognize those panels behind the speakers. Wow that is a big room, because I know how enormous those speakers are.

Magico's listening room is bigger than the front of my house, which includes the living room, kitchen, and dining room.

Got this from my dealer here in Norway, they were fortunate enough to visit the factory last week.

I think Magico listening room is the largest among speaker's manufacturer. Very well designed, nice acoustics and very low background noise (20dB). Probably the best manufacturer room I have seen with the Marten one in Europe.

The Marten large listening/show room is indeed very good. I visited them many moons ago and listened to the Coltrane Supremes mk I. Sound was very impressive. Their room is a dedicated, completely treated room with nearly no connection to the (main) building.

The Marten room was designed by SMT from Sweden.

Magico, on the other hand, worked with RPG I believe.

Transparent may have a bigger room in their factory in Saco.

They were the first to build such a complex room, long before everyone else did.

Rockport's listening room is also another strong contender IMHO.

My M Project speakers finally arrived last week. So far I am really impressed. I was trying to curb my initial expectations as my experiences with new speakers have always confirmed of patience, burning in, experimenting with placement, toe in/out etc. Not this time. From the first second, even without spikes, they proved to be a different caliber. After placing and switching to spikes, further improvement was remarkable. Last but not the least, the control, authority and easiness via ARC Ref 610Ts are outstanding, never felt that way with B&Ws. Will share some photos soon.

I've been to the Transparent room in Saco. It is superb. Apparently they have two such rooms. One at the factory, and one at the owners' home. Completely isolated and very large as well. And this is for a cable manufacturer. They have the Wilson XLFs and the Thor sub was in the back of the room, though it was not hooked up.

Wow, I'm surprised to hear that it sounded that different to you. Maybe it was the room and/or the electronics? I think I have a similar midrange and tweeter in my M-Project and I haven't found it to sound that different from my S5's (other than it being much leaner in the bass). Perhaps this is because the speakers really don't have a sound of their own and one hears the electronics chain.

This does not correlate to the MPro sound I hard, on 3 different occasions now. They had more bass then my S5 (albeit different room and electronics), and the top end was significantly more refine.

More deep bass or more bass overall?

Here is a graph of the frequency response of the S5 compared with the M-Project in Magico's room (NOT IN AN ANECHOIC CHAMBER).

This was provided by Alon Wolf to my dealer. Again, this was in Magico's room. The M's are in red and the S5 in blue. It does suggest the M has a lot more bass than the S5 but for some reason that's now what I think I hear in my room.

This looks more like what I heard, although I thought they also had more deep bass, but it looks like they are on par with the S5 as far as extension goes.

Maybe it is because they have less bass overhang ?

I get much deeper bass on the M's than on my S5's - at least in my room. I had to use a sub on the S5's.
