I think this one IS the Technics and therefore not the one in question
I know. I just though Ked might have just been pedantic!:p

Anyway how DARE you say this is just a jazzed up Technics! Technics is much better than this.

A name would have been nice ! A couple of pictures even better ! Is she married ?;)

Hi I dont think its appropriate to mention any name here. After all the thread its about Brinkmann Balance

Interesting, I just made the switch as I took delivery yesterday. I loved the La grange, however, had a local opportunity for this.

My initial combo will be the 4pt as well. I will again put the FR64s on it for the Koetsus as well. I'm going to say it here: this is it for me on TTs!

I now see that its difficult to replace this turnatble

Why would you put pivot on a linear tracker?
Why do some like blonds and others favor brunets ? There has been some speculation that the arm is the weak link on the Sirius. And maybe a 2 arm combo could be squeezed in  I like having both a LT and pivot arm on my TT.

Last Tuesday, a friend with Brinkmann Balance, had planned to dismantle the main bearing for an inspection and oil replacement after 7 years of continuous use.

To be noted that Helmut Brinkmann underlines that the bearing is sealed and maintenance free. However I was curious to see the bearing after such a heavy use, so I paid a visit at his house after my office.

Brinkmann Balance bearing is an over engineered hydrostatic type of bearing.

We were very surprised to see that after so many years and thousands hours of operation the bearing and thrust were in perfect condition without any scoring. I guess the secret is the hydrostatical lubrication and the large contact area which is reducing the pressure between the two surfaces.

i am so happy to own such a well engineered and well designed turntable!

Wonderful. Congratulations! Rock solid.

I have had my Balance w/RöNt II, Reed P3-12 w/Miyajima Labs Zero and Graham Phantom III-10 w/DynaVector Te Kaitora Rua for some time now. Was very tempted to try one of herr Brinkmann’s own tonearms, but haven’t as yet. As you said originally, look forward to (every) next listen.

I have recently acquired some very nice cartridges which I like a lot, Airtight Opus I and Lyra Atlas Lambda. Experiencing Brinkmann’s precision and quality I am seriously considering to acquire a Brinkmann Tonearm too

Shortly I will write my impressions on Atlas Lambda and Airtight Opus I, in my opinion two of the best cartridges available right now. It’s strange that I disliked Etsuro Gold and had to sell it but I do like Lyra Etna Lambda

Very interested in your findings. I will decide whether to upgrade my Atlas and Etna SL to lambda or abandon one or both and go for Air Tight or MSL

Esturo was on my list. I may be able to get a sample to try. Did you report specific impressions with Esturo here?-- if so I will look.

Thanks!

Hi Kcin

in my opinion, Opus is the Emperor who rules them all, but I wouldnt live without Atlas lambda too.

i was very relieved when a friend bought my Etsuro Gold.

you can’t go wrong with the Atlas Lambda and or Opus

The motor used is the frequency controlled -three phase, BLDC PAPST VDC 3-43-10 -order number 937.4310.602. I will power it with Keces P8 LPS

I like the Gotham DC cable plus Oyaide DC connectors between Keces P8 and the Papst motor.

As it is affordable, you might like to give the DC cable a try.

I mostly order 2.5mm, as it fits all, even the smaller one. Otherway around definitely does not work.

Interesting - are you using it with the manufacturer control electronics?
