I have plenty of tubes laying around. I must have a dozen or so NOS rectifiers from the 50's and 60's (Phillip's, GE, RCA, Mullard). And I have both Linlai Elite 300b's and new in box Dawning series we300b plus. Also some Linlai Elite 101d's. I also bought a set of best300b px25rk's and a 5u4grk lightly used. I have some great 46's and the military version VT63's also but I would need to pop a resistor or 2 in the circuit to get the heater voltage down to 2.5 or so. If I go digging around I probably have a couple other things floating around. The tube rolling curse strikes again.
Very nice
So you are in for a very interesting journey :p

The 46 need adapters to be used in the Pacific with the 5-way raptors switch on the 45 position.
At least that is how I used the 46 that I sonically preferred over the 45.
I'm not a big fan of 300Bs in Lampi DACs.
I much prefer the RK PX25 and very much prefer the RK 242.
I agree about the 300b. Power tubes yes. In a Lampi, no. Bloated midrange and weak detail in upper and lower ranges. We both have the adapters for the tubes, but we only get 2 position voltage on the Big 7. I found out after it was shipped that theres an off the menu upgrade for the 5 position switch for the B7. Like I said I should be able to find a nice combo in the ranges I have. If not it's easy to get one of the values down so I can try 242's and a couple others.

How's the Big7 working out? I still have no DAC from Lampizator. I was offered alternatives to the BEST300B, but I have spent a good deal of money on tubes for it as it is, so I asked that they deliver what was ordered. The site said nothing about any delay, it appeared that they had them sitting on a shelf, ready to ship. Ordered April 27th and still nothing.

Well....I had a bit of a glitch. But Lukasz and Fred are making it right. Without going into detail I am awaiting another unit that is in transit as we speak.
As for your unit, sorry for the wait but parts issues for audio and tons of other industries are real. And I will tell you that I ordered my B7 a month before you did so I'm about 11 weeks in. They are seriously backed up but the good stuff will be here before you know it.

That may be, but a little honesty goes a long way. He was offering me "refurbished", aka trade ins which originally sold for twice as much I am told, but the Big7 has 2 more tubes, and I don't believe that they take the same tubes. I forget the other DAC, but it was a similar story. I am not crazy about tubes, they are expensive and wear out too soon. They are a necessary evil though in the never ending attempt to find a straight wire with gain. You need far fewer components in a tube circuit.

Maybe you should not consider a Lampi Dac, then...

Because of the issues, or the tubes? I'd think anyone who likes to repeatedly spend money on something considers it an issue. I don't like the fact that I have to change the oil in my vehicle, but it's a necessary evil. As for Lampizator, I paid for it, I suppose that I am evil for expecting them to send it? Especially since two self imposed deadlines have come and gone. I didn't tell them that it had to ship by X day, or at the end of X week after the initial self imopsed deadline came and went. I have now suggested that they should finally complete it in a timely fashion considering prior promises. I'm sure that is evil as well. Perhaps you should be less judgmental of others, or are only you entitled to opinions? SMH The late Dr. Gerstner used to say; "say what you mean, and mean what you say" and having worked in the repair field for decades has taught me to additionally under promise, and over deliver. I always base my etr on a worse case scenario, unless parts need to be ordered. In that case I have to be more general, and explain why. If everyone were to do those two things to the best of their ability, I believe that most people in this world would be more content with regards to such things as delivery dates and repair estimates. Somehow I am sure that you will disparage that as well.

Trusting Pawel, the German Lampizator representative, as of this month things are accelerating in Poland: new staff, faster supply of pcb boards. My Horizon DAC (no. 50 on the waiting list), which was expected for September, is now delivered probably "in summer" (September beeing summer, too? - anyway...). No promises of a date.
Be patient, I´m confident it will be worth the wait.

And I mostly agree with you ;)

It's a love hate relationship for me. I love the result, but tubes ideally should be mass produced, and sold for about $10 each. To make that happen, we need to get busy and convert everyone to tubes so that production lines don't have to shut down and re-tool all the time! Lol

They still have them up, but it was designed for Lukasz son, and I think that may have been part of the run a round. Unless you have found a used one, you should ask. Don't assume it being advertised means it's still available. You should try to nail down a definite delivery date, if they areavailable.
