Only if you use an antique primitive outdated OS like Windoze. Step up to the 21st century with a Mac OS or a Linux and free yourself from the scourge of downloading USB drivers, which is what everyone *should* be using for serious audio work. The Blue Screen of Death catastrophe that brought large parts of the world to a screeching halt earlier this year should be yet another reminder what a piece of crap Windoze is. After suffering with innumerable variants of that awful OS since Windows 3 in 1990, I tossed out the last PC I had a few years ago. I have 1 aging Windows laptop that I only fire up since it runs the software for my Amplitrex tube tester. One day soon, I'll do that on a VM, and throw out the garbage Windows laptop as well. Fortunately, in the Bay Area, we have collection agencies that are happy to take all your silicon junk. I've thrown away oodles of old drives, keyboards, and other desiderata in the past couple of years.Horizon requires a driver like this:
Hey Lukasz,
Which Linux build do you use or recommend? I’ve never tried it but maybe it’s time to add a Linux build onto my pc.
If I install Linux, will I need redo my ROON library ? I’d hope so since ROON runs on any operating system.
LDMS by Lukasz Domanski is bargain I've had (2)Taiko Extremes and now use the LDMS . Also the support is excellent. I think anyone that compares taiko vs LDMS will have 20k more in there bank account and a lot less problemsI'm not going to answer for LF, but there is music server/streamer that works exceptionally well with Lampizator built by another Polish guy called Lukasz also in Wroclaw (add Lukasz from Horns into the mix and you begin to see a pattern of Polish brilliance in audiophile equipment and the name Lukazs!).
Lukasz Domanski runs Lucas Audio Labs and his LDMS Minimax is a giant killer of a music box. It's Taiko Extreme level performance for one third the cost. It is however, Windows based.
There is a dedicated thread on the Computer Based Music forum and an excellent review here.
AFAIK Taiko is also Windows based as well as Pink Faun...It is however, Windows based.

Taiko is Windows, this is what they told me at Munich HighEnd in 2024. Pink Faun uses a customized version of Euphony according to Euphony‘s website. Euphony is Linux based.AFAIK Taiko is also Windows based as well as Pink Faun...

I generally swap every tube including recti out first for a whole different set. If that solves the issue then I know it’s the tubes and I slowly add stuff back in. If you swap all your tubes and still have the issue then we’re looking downstream (DAC electronics onwards)…I am getting some crackling in the right channel when listening to my Horizon. I realize it could be caused by a slew of things including tubes, interconnects, etc. I am just curious where people would recommend starting to identify the issue. Do the 4 power tubes relate directly to one channel vs the other? How about the 6SN7s? Any assistance would be appreciated.
Crackling typically is tube related. I had this happen with some OS1's. It was also intermittent. I know you run balanced same as I do. Wondering if you used Single Ended for trouble shooting. Just use the left bank, don't put any tubes in the right bank. Take a listen and see what it does, if its quiet add tubes to the right bank. Take a listen. If still quiet go back to balanced and see what it does...I am getting some crackling in the right channel when listening to my Horizon. Good point. Maybe just start with interchanging power tubes...The only issue with that is I am changing a whole bunch of things at once including interconnects and the input on my preamp. Plus, I’d like to make sure all 4 power tube sockets are ok.
