That list looks like the record bins at Barnes & Noble. No, I don’t have any of them, and the artists aren’t on my favorites list.

I do have early pressings of Rumours and Dark Side of the Moon.

Regardless of whether or not the records are new and have digital processing, increased vinyl sales generally means increased interest in turntables tonearms cartridges and phonostages and increased sales of those.

Millennials can surprise us. I think turntables are like some wearing their Mom's old jeans and peasant tops. What is old can be new again. Ms. Swift, being a good entrepreneur among other things, understands her market.

Albums are tangible connections to the artist. Great souvenirs from the Tour too. Even elderly yuppies understand the delight that comes from holding well done album art. Squaring the Circle comes to mind.

There is an outfit nearby who will do lathe cut vinyl in small batches. Obviously Taylor Swift doesn’t need to use them, but there is a market comprised of “not yet famous” artists who keep the lathe busy.

I know folks who will make runs of 30 to take out on the “coffee house circuit.” Pressing wins for economy as the run size increases, but both are in use.

Vinyl is fun for young and old. Have you ever been to a “Record Store Day?” They might give away (or sell for a few bucks a copy) the latest limited edition run from a hopeful up-and-comer. People actually wait on the sidewalk outside the store to be among the lucky customers. Us elderly yuppies and hippies aren’t the only ones who succumb to the siren song of vinyl.

My 18 year old niece has a turntable playing to a bluetooth speaker. She has some of my records, those I listened to when I was her age. I'm glad she enjoys them!

yes, I certainly understand this. But my point was that I’m surprised the kids who listen to Taylor Swift would buy her records and listen to the vinyl. Are you suggesting that they buy the vinyl but don’t actually own a record player to play it? I’ve read that some kids just put albums up on the wall and never actually listen to them. Kind of like buying a poster of Farrah Fawcett, or the cover of “whipped cream and other delights“.

That can happen. But more likely they will buy a Crossley (sp?) and blissfully ruin the album before unlocking its full potential.

They sell $125 record players in the vinyl department next to the records.

Actually, I bought an old Beatles single just to look at it, it's fun to have. I don't own a record player (as everyone knows by now).

I don't get why some folks knock the young for buying vinyl, it really is quite pathetic, particularly as it was Boomers who robbed humanity of analogue playback and replaced with, in the main, digital garbage.

My daughter asked for three specific Taylor Swift LPs for Christmas. Two were colored vinyl (light blue and purple). We have yet to play them…she likes the album covers and listens to the music via ITunes and her headphones…
