Good mid-price audiophile switches

100Mbps is all I need but I can see there are advantages to 1G and even 10G for some.
I appreciate your understanding. I am sure I don't "need" a 10G pipe to my NAS, but I will probably take a step by pursuing 2.5gbps span between the Macs I use to process my music and my NAS.

In post #470 of this thread, I reported on a shoot-out with the LHY SW-10. I have edited the post to remove the results of this test, as it has come to my attention that I may have tested the LHY with a 10GTek SFP instead of the Finisar. I apologize to anyone who read the post and to LHY for my carelessness.

Hopefully I will be able to redo the comparisons in the future. My opinion at this time remains what it was when I had the LHY in-house for a week. Either the EtherRegen or SW-10 can sound best, depending on ancillaries (power supply, AC and DC cables, fuse, clock, system synergy and personal preference).

After a good year with Edisons audio switch and a bit less with fiberbox2 I've decided to send them back to HK and get them ready to be power supplied by Firebird LPS. I always stress the human touch and communication,, and this with Edison is just absolutely exemplary. Units were ready in about two weeks and shipped back so for the last almost a month I've been using those goodies with a smile on my face.
So in nutshell, what was already good with this setup was elevated to another heights with the addition of LPS. Overall music flow, darker background, musicality. I did not notice any major diff in for example deeper bass or better treble/mids but the sheer palpability of presentation is something I look for so the entire exercise was very well worth.IMG_2393.jpeg
P.S. I've also took opportunity to get the additional creation from Edison - his reference USB cable and this will be described in the separate thread...

Beautiful set up! I'll be ordering my Ediscreation Switch in the Spring to compliment my Firebox II. I sure hope adding the switch will improve matters even more.

I have a new switch coming from HNE Labs same topology as the M12 TG Premium, firmware same, slightly different form factor whereby it uses Rj45 instead of the cables TG uses. I will report back. I have his fiber isolators and now adding the switch. Like other switches from HNE I am sure it is going to be fantastic.

Some pics below..The boxes are monolithic and very well made. He's a really brilliant designer, making mostly Sean Jacobs inspired power supplies. Uses all the best parts (Clocks, Caps, Toroids) in everything he does.

Thanks for sharing. Where can I find more information about the product?

He does most of his business overseas..Below is FB website. He's very responsive and helpful through the years I've purchased from him. I 100% vouch for the quality of his products and service and pricing is fair.

Thanks. Does it come with CE (EU)? If not it would be a problem getting is through customs?

I doubt it, no UL (USA) either...I've not had any issues with customs but he could speak to that.

Anyone try any Avago MM or SM modules?

I picked up a cheap Uptone EtherRegen this week.
Replacing a Cisco SG110-D with Fidelity Audio C4Mk2 clock.
That now moves to my router.

I guess that would help. :) I was looking at the AFBR-57F5PZ and the AFBR-5718PZ.

hm, no experience using those.
Tho, 57F5PZ is not for networking usage (its for storage system purposes). 5718PZ could be used.
Any reason to not use Finisars?

Oh, I’ve got a number of Finisars. I was just curious about these as, IIUC, Avago/Broadcom at least at one time made modules for other companies including Cisco. At least that’s what I concluded from what I’d read.

hi, have some questions
is there a recommended connection for the ediscreation silent switch ocxo extreme? e.g router on port 8, streamer at port 2?
is there recommendation to disconnect ground for all ports?

Hi,
No the order doesn’t matter
For the ground it’s supposed to be better disconnected but you can make your own experiment

In my room, I found the Paul Pang Double Quad Switch to be better than the Silent Angel. Im waiting upon the N1 Switch from Xact Audio.
