The drive needs to be formatted with an ext4 filesystem as the Router runs a linux operating system. We have assigned some resources last week to integrate support for other filesystems as although this functionality has not been used thus far recent development suddenly makes this an interesting application.

Please don’t consider me rude for insisting but, the Taiko Router firmware update would be very useful for many of us who have the backup files in a USB disk, and don’t already have the Extreme in their possession.
To load the internal Olympus storage, it would be a shorter path to perform the task, only from the Router to the Olympus and the data crossing only one Ethernet cable.
I know it’s silly me but I prefer simpler methods.

The USB Router port only recognises ext4 formatted disks. The Router firmware update will provide the recognition of NTFS formatted disks. The Router firmware is Linux based.
The Olympus USB port doesn’t recognise any type oF data input. It’s only for music files and connected to a DAC.

Thanks. I didn’t realize that about the USB port. So there are no input ports on the Olympus? That’s odd but I guess done for a specific reason.

I guess copying your library to an ext4 formatted disks would be a PITA.

Or you could connect the USB drive to the computer you use to remote into the Olympus, but I assume you already know that.

I could setup a Ubuntu machine and do the conversion there, with a version that recognises both the formatted disks but, it’s another conversion, where we always loose something. Silly me, it’s an obsession.
I have in the Taiko Router network, a windows home server, assembled in a Pink Faun ancient streamer, great PSU BTW, not exactly a NAS, but that would be the longest path. From the Router it will be the shortest path. Just a little bit OCD…, but I’m getting better.
