Taiko Audio Extreme Router

I could setup a Ubuntu machine and do the conversion there, with a version that recognises both the formatted disks but, it’s another conversion, where we always loose something. Silly me, it’s an obsession.
I have in the Taiko Router network, a windows home server, assembled in a Pink Faun ancient streamer, great PSU BTW, not exactly a NAS, but that would be the longest path. From the Router it will be the shortest path. Just a little bit OCD…, but I’m getting better.
Could the NAS input/recommendation from Taiko be part of why they suggested it? Using a NAS eliminates what you have explained/shared...

John, yes my home server will be my NAS. Just a little bit more complex/complete OS, it’s a windows 10 home edition, and I will compare the SQ of the files stored there, with the the files stored in the Olympus.
But the thing here is, for me only, luckily nobody more has this paranoia ☺️, :), find the shortest path to load the internal Olympus disk storage from my USB disk backup. Please, load yours from another PC in the network and you’ll be fine , really OK.

Once I decided that I was going to use a NAS with the Olympus I bought one, filled it with the files on the internal storage of the Extreme, and started using it with the Extreme with Roon.

Armando I now have a clearer picture and understanding of what you want to accomplish. OCD is another word for Thorough!

Once you loaded the NAS and started listening, any SQ difference/improvement over file storage in the Extreme? Or the same SQ?

Can’t really compare since I use Roon with the NAS and local files with XDMS. I certainly didn’t hear anything bad.

There’s a new firmware update available.

I have the v1.0.3-0-g85adedf installed today.

I am running that too but I haven't updated my firmware in 6-9 months, if not more.

Very strange indeed. I check up for updates regularly and never had one available. This morning the firmware button was red and did the install successfully. I have mine since April. Anyway it’s not the firmware version that recognises NTFS file system disks so I’m in the same situation as before so, I’ll have to keep waiting.

I thought this was the upcoming firmware update...Obviously not, strange why it just now prompted you Armando. I would have thought the same...

Sorry for the false hope guys.

Not sure if this is the right place to post but…I have my Extreme stored on my laptop and I use an ipad to control XDMS. In the last couple of days something weird happens. When using my laptop to access my Extreme I have to switch from my home network to Taiko Audio on the laptop network connection but when I do this my iPad loses network connection with Taiko Audio. I then disconnect power from the DCD to the router, reconnect power and then reconnect with Taiko Audio and all is good as long as I don’t try to connect with my Extreme by changing network connection on my laptop to Taiko Audio. Everything has been working perfectly since installing the switch DCD and router well over a year ago. Has anyone experienced something like this?

What does it mean to have your Extreme stored on your laptop?

The only reason why I could see that happening is if the wireless was configured to only allow 1 connection at a time. I looked at the router configuration screens and I don’t see that as being an option. Are you hardwired from the laptop to the router or using wireless?

Sorry for the false hope guys.

We actually do have a new firmware version for filesystem support but it’s in “test” phase. It was only offered to our test routers, could you send us your serial number and/or firmware version currently installed? Perhaps your router serial number was mistakenly added to our test group.

As the Taiko Router Wi-Fi is static, it’s more likely another acces point causing issues.

In case you are experiencing some connectivity issues and/or want to make sure you don’t run into any issues in the future, you could change the Taiko Wi-Fi to operate in 802.11n mode. It will then work on both 2.4G and 5G. The few who have done this actually hear no difference at all. I can hear a small difference but it’s small, like less then 1%.

Perhaps this is a situation where one should not go for the absolute last attainable drop in exchange for a bit more comfort.

We’re considering to making this standard, we could include it in a firmware update. Should you want to have the absolute minimum interference possible you could change it back to 802.11 legacy mode manually then. We could also look into making this an option in the upcoming remote support app.
