Do you know if Abbas has matched the model to your new one? You wrote that the replacement DAC is modified and should sound better. It probably only had 10 hrs on it from me before shipping it back for replacement.

I don’t know. Abbas seems to not have a “standard”. Something today is different tomorrow. I didn’t notice any difference in sound between the two. It may be a case where you need an A/B switch flipping back and forth to notice. The innards look very similar but not exact.Do you know if Abbas has matched the model to your new one? I’m using the RCA red base. I would say it gets warm but not hot.Thank you!
Are you also using the 6SN7 soviet tubes with your new 2.4 SE?
Does the DAC get very warm when the DAC with top is used?
I have a pair of the Melz 6H8C but I didn’t use them. They are a little tall.Did you replace the RED BASE with the Soviet 6SN7? If so, what has changed in sound?
“Sounded great “. Probably not close to being burned-in fully with infrequent usage.I mostly listen to vinyl but I played the Abbas yesterday for the first time in a while. Sounded great feeding it from CEC TL1.
I believe Abbas has said it doesn’t need burn in.“Sounded great “. Probably not close to being burned-in fully with infrequent usage.

Okay. Abbas told me recently my 3.2SE DAC requires 200 hours to be thoroughly burned-in. I just assumed (Maybe erroneously) there wouldn’t be much different with the 2.4SE.I believe Abbas has said it doesn’t need burn.
Variance of tubes as a factor makes sense. Abbas utilizes Blackgate capacitors, and many believe they require a substantial burn-in period to sound their best. Then there's lots of wire in the multiple transformers as another possible factor.Id say 100h+. But it may be valve dependent. I find that all nos valves need a bit of time before they peak. Some more than others.
With the right 6sn7 that 2.4se will sound very nice. Too bad the jacmusic sylvania 7n7 (15 eur) with adapters will only fit with the lid off.

I have the following tubes to choose:
6SN7GT Brimar UK NOS. Red logo. Clear glass 170 GBP
6SN7GT Brimar UK NOS. KB/FE version. Black glass. 400 GBP
6SN7GT / VT231 USA NOS, Kenrad 160 GBP.
6SN7GT USA VT231. NOS, Tung-Sol, L round anode 300 GBP
6SN7W Sylvania USA NOS. Metal base 180 GBP
6SN7GT Mullard, UK. NOS. 190 GBP
Does anyone have experience with these tubes on the 2.4 SE?
They all look like top shelf to me.
Melz 6sn7 is another option but it’s gotta be the right version.
Ask Abbas for advice.
