American Sound AS-2000 Installations- Far East (Tango)

The Kuro and Bochino spade are pain in the arse. They are very stiff and the spades are too big. At first I could not insert the spade through the Lamm speaker terminal because the spade is too wide. There was a ring blocking it. (See pic. Only one side of spade could go half through.)

Ddk was still in bed. So I had to push my smart button to solve the problem myself by taking out this ring (see pic below) at the terminal. Then the spades could go in and connected perfectly.

Btw, Khun David, my back ache again. Need more Advil.

How about another way is to use panel mounted isolation transformer like Equitech or Torus for audio system. In this case, the audio system is isolated from the rest of the household and one can float the whole audio system. For safety, maybe, one can put a ground rod into the garden and connect the ground of the audio system to this ground rod.

I haven’t heard Stromtank before. But in general, I don’t like battery power system. The internal impedance maybe high. It negates their benefits.

Yes, there are many way of dealing with this problem. Each has its advantages and problems, isolation transformers also have limitations, its efficiency depends a lot on the particular system. BTW, additional separated grounds are ilegal in most countries.

Wait, so @Tango , what are all the updates in your system at this time? You swapped out Ayon amps for Lamm amps. You put Lamm front end electronics under the AF and the Kronos? What was replaced by Lamm in those chains? And are those speakers different than what you had previously? I can't keep up.

Only Lamm amps and pre amp are new. I took out Ayon amps, preamp and phono. The Lamm comes in too many damn boxes. I had to take out Ayons to make room. Speakers are the same. Subs are still off...hehe. In fact I now start to think I can cancel my plan on new Cessaro subs. The Lamm gives me extra bass from down to up proportionately.

Kind regards,
Tang

OK, Lamm amps are giving more bass. I would love at some point to hear the Max Richter demo on three carts again.

Totally agree. It took me almost 4 years to come to that conclusion along with prodding from many members here who heard my system, many of whom were either speaker manufacturers or mastering engineers.

As micro states correctly Tang, wait til they have broken in

Did you get the stock carbon plated GM-70's or did you opt for the special copper plated GM-70's

Only tube I have ever rolled is the 12AX7 in the ML3. I use an NOS pair of Tele ECC803S. If you have or can find a pair, you might want to consider A/B'ing the Tele vs the stock 12AX7

David ordered me the copper plated Steve.

only way to fly Tang. IMO they are a huge difference however they should be changed every year and are far from inexpensive, plus Vlad doesn't have an unlimited supply. :(

here is an interesting caveat that I discovered Tang...in my system when using the stock carbon plate GM-70 the bass seemed to be even better BUT the copper plate GM-70 sounds far more natural so good choice and please don't buy up all of Vlad's copper plate GM-70's or you'll make unhappy campers of the rest of us who use the amp ;)

I would reformulate "Micro told me unless the gears are at their full potential, I better not say anything that is not positive". ;)
At least not if you want to sell the gear afterwards ;)

Removing ground pins normally solves the hum issues but can be a serious safety issue, perhaps more relevant in countries with 220/230V mains than in those with 110V.

A lot of things aren't grounded, but they are double insulated. Obviously our massive aluminum enclosures are not double insulated.

Technically a plane could still have a ground. It would be like when a balanced transformer has a ground for example; or some variation on that.

Re-sale value is not affected by negative opinions in WBF - it is always low ... :( - but they could create wrong and unfair impressions in people. I really dislike when people need to exculpate their guilt for the their late acquisition bashing the previous equipment. :)

Is David flying out to re -hypnotize you ?:)
When ever David has been somewhere, a lot of Lamm gear follows !
He is a dangerous man when you are on a audio budget.

When I sort of quoted Micro, I was just teasing him. I actually want to keep checking rechecking myself if what I hear from the Lamm combo is just "different flavors" or simply "better." And it was just my first date. The lady happens to be sizzling hot.

Kind regards,
Tang
